*** 2015/16 Post/Pre-season Friendly Thread ***

Kompany having a shocker. Don't think he has completed a pass yet.

Infact city are very woeful, regardless of the line up. (They'll score now....)

Manyoo did alright in preseason under Moyes, right?

;):p

Only won two out of seven preseason games with Moyes, so no :p

However the team looked great in preaseason last year and then had a terrible start in the league. So yeah, preaseason form doesn't count for much. Fun to see the new signings in action though.

Forgot the game was at such a stupid time :(

You didn't miss much, everyone looked pretty knackered after 15 mins. :p

Darmian looked very lively, didn't put a foot wrong defensively and looked like a winger more than a full back.

Schneiderlin intercepted a lot of passes, scored a decent goal and passed the ball well. Looked very strong.

Schweinsteiger just kept the ball moving in midfield but you could see him pointing to the defenders to pass it and so on which was good to see.

Depay was playing in the number 10 role really, off Rooney, played a few decent through balls but never got the chance to run at people.

Have Arsenal's marketing team gone on strike? Just seen The Emirates cup advert in the metro, Ozil and Welbeck look ridiculous.

The problem with pre-season friendlies is that its very difficult to judge them on merit other than fitness. Many teams (in particular foreign teams) just don't try very hard in friendlies.

Case in point being that Origi scored in his first friendly for Liverpool, yet I don't think we'll see him being prolific in the Premier League.

I also remember many a preseason where someone has looked incredible and then turned out to be rubbish when the Premier League started.

I think, for all the new signings around the teams, we will really need to wait and see how they do when the whistle blows for the first match that matters of the season rather than the pre-season games. Its one of the reasons why I don't put much credence on it when a team plays 5 preseason games, wins them all without conceding. Then turns out for the first premier league match on the back of "tremendous pre-season form" and promptly loses 3-0 to West Ham

United love to have a cracking pre-season. Last year we were scoring freely and generally playing well but suddenly when the PL started we had a massive come down. Suddenly that open formation that works against a lazy opposition who wants to attack more than defend doesn't work so well.

7-0 up at HT v a Dutch 4th tier (amateur) side. Fitness etc etc but not sure they are getting above a gentle stroll in pace.
