2015 Chilli Growers Thread

Anyone trying these Mojo chillies, like Pink Tiger?

Expensive but if you have all the factors the chilli requires, you might get the colourful stripey/blotchy characteristics. I'm tempted but I think I'll wait a year. I also might try my own cross-breeds with the Pimenta de Neyde.

I already have the Black Scorpion Tongue, and the PI 322717, as I got it from Fatalii last year:

Nothing like the tigers.

I'm up for giving this another bash. Last year my chilies got molested by an army of slugs as soon as I moved them outside, hoping to avoid that this year.

Ideally I'll be keeping them indoors as I don't have a green house and the weather is so variable here they slow to a absolute crawl as soon as I put them outside.

@Herman Gelmet I'd love a mystery bag of seeds as I haven't ordered anything yet.

Bit early for me to start yet (since I got rid of the light box). I didn't overwinter any this year because they were a bit sluggish last year. It's very hard to throw out a plant that is nearly five years old :(

I have a small set of superhot seeds:

Nagalah
Naga Morrich (Chilli Pepper Pete's)
7 Pod (Brain Strain)
Fatalii
Scotch Bonnet
Devil's Tongue
Naga Morrich (Nicky's Nursery)

I'll probably start trying to germinate mid-end February.

Well, here we go again!

It is the fifth year running that ill be growing chillies. I started too late last year. So will be making sure I get an early start in a few weeks time.

I haven't actually had to actively overwinter any of my chillies this year. They're still green, although they're a bit droopy but they're all in the greenhouse. I'm going to try and nurse them back to a more healthy state this weekend, cut them back and remove the leaves so they're ready for the sunshine if it comes!

Are you able to access my Trust and send me an email, with a postal address? I can't log in to my own, so I can't see yours. I can log in to the forum, but not Trust for some reason.

I'm not going overboard this year. As much as I enjoyed growing them last year, I had far too many and my freezer is still bursting at the seams with Habs, Scotch Bonnets and Nagas. I've overwintered the Habanero plant and the Scotch Bonnet plant but putting them in smaller pots - hopefully that will hold back the size of them (assuming they grow after overwintering).

I'm going to grow Kasmiri Chilli this year as many of the recipes in Rick Stein's excellent India book use them. I can get dried ones easily enough from our equally excellent Asian supermarket but I would like some fresh ones too (if I get enough, I can dry my own as well).

Might have a bash at some Poblanos this year as well.

I've probably offered before but if you want anyone to help you out and take some of those chillies off your hands... :p

I might order some more habanero seeds and get a couple of them going. They were really nice last time though all incredibly small. Like dwarf habs or something.

I grew way too many plants last year, I'm starting to realise that less is more. Concentrate on about 5 - 6 plants and give them room to grow outward and they'll thrive. So that's what I'll be doing this year :)

I have so many seeds, many self-harvested 'randoms' which could provide someone with some experimental mystery plants. Post here if you would grow some of these. No guarantees of anything.

I can't access my trust email but it should be correct if you use mine to contact me, but please post here first.

Likely seeds: Cap 253c (rare) and Jamaican Red Mushroom. Possibly others which I have yet to check.

i would love to have a go at some random ones as a first timer. Please ping me and email and we can sort something from there!

Yes, I've realised that having too many plans can just get silly. It is best to focus on a few, and event hen you get more than enough!

I don't bother with overwintering, I've not had the greatest of success. The plants don't seem to have had the same vigour. I just sow fresh each year.

i think im going to stick to 3 plants this year (not inc a sweet pepper) and leave a bit more room for other veg. just need to decide on variety.

need to figure out a new greenhouse too, the plastic one i had from wilko has seen better days.

I need to get some going, doesn't look like any have survived the winter this year, then again I didn't bring any indoors. It was always I'll sort it out at the weekend and never did.

I just ordered my Cheiro Roxa from a site I haven't used (or noticed) before. They are in UK and have some of Fatalii's own breeds. I haven't received the seeds yet, but I only ordered yesterday. The chillies do look amazing.

I would try Fatalii Aji Gourmet Fantasy from the same seller, as it is a Fatalii strain, which looks like a superhot (i.e. Chinense type) but is an Baccatum, and therefore easy to grow.

UPDATE: Just noticed that they do the Black Scorpion Tongues too:

Just ordered all three. :D
