2015 Review

Job/Career - Promoted to team leader, working from home even more towards the end of the year and enjoying it.

Car(s) - Still swapping every 6 months to a brand new car, but occasionally have an itch to own a more interesting car but the financials don't add up.

Holiday - No holidays :'(

Relationship / Family- Strong as ever. Our son was born in October :D

Home / Property - Still doing plenty of work on my current property but it's shaping up and has changed so much in the 18 months we have lived here.

High - My son being born.

Low - The struggles my wife had with her anxiety while pregnant.

2016 Plans - More time in the gym, debt free and a holiday.

Job/Career - Same

Car(s) - Same

Holiday - Hiroshima, and Dubai

Relationship / Family- Got Married

Home / Property - Same

High - Hiroshima

Low - Got Married :D

2016 Plans - Get Divorced :D

Job/Career - New internal role, huge step up income wise, unnoticeable step up in workload/responsibilities due to previously acting above pay grade. Win/Win.

Car(s) - No change, Honda Civic 1.8 exec, boring but practical.

Holiday - Egypt in the summer before all the madness arrived, Lapland in December, many long weekends in Hunstanton.

Relationship / Family- Still married, still happy, spending more quality time together now our daughter is getting older.

Home / Property - Not much done to the main house. Garage re-roofed, interior painted and power supply set up, this lead to main fuseboard in the house being seriously upgraded.

High - Genuinely a positive year on many fronts, one high would be being asked to be godparents to my new little sister (father remarried and had a baby! 31 year age gap!).

Low - becoming totally demotivated as far as exercise goes. Home gym setup hasn't helped as I had hoped, really need to kick things up a gear.

2016 Plans - Learn to Snowboard, get our bathroom refurbished, potentially renovate the whole upstairs of our house!

Job/Career - Got my IT contract renewed for the year, but spent most of the time from August to December building up my business. Trying to manage building the business with no money, which is fun. I did an accelerator program in the US for 3 months too, juggling the 2 jobs. We managed to sign a partnership agreement with a big company end of the year, and recruited 4 interns who are working now on dev. So hoping to push product Feb.

Car(s) - Still got the S4. Needs a new clutch and driveshaft, which I need to sort out. Wife is doing her driving test (FINALLY!!) soon, so looking at a Nissan Qashqui for her.

Holiday - Did the mountains skiing a few times, and spent a lot of the year back and forth in the US, but that was all work. Managed to get 3 weeks in Thailand and the islands over Christmas though, so that was nice.

Relationship / Family- My daughter is now 18 months old, been married over 2 years. My step sons are now 8 and 11. All well on that front, but never without some struggles; the whole working away so much is tough on any relationship. The boys dad wants to be in touch more, which has the boys torn I think too around me and him. Just want them to be happy and I'll always treat them as my own.

Home / Property - Still in the same rented house. Don't want to buy around here, don't know where we'll end up. But been saying that the last 3 years now. 4 years left on the mortgage for our apartment in the mountains now. That'll be nice when it's done.

High - Think we did a lot. Business came on, family came on and we're stronger as a result.

Low - Strain on the family around Aug/Sept when I was in the US with my work and wife had just got out of hospital for stomach surgery. I had to leave her with the 3 kids, trying to do everything, when she really couldn't. That and working 100hr weeks for 3 months took it's toll.

2016 Plans - Wife is starting a business at the moment, so being there for that helping. Get her car sorted. Try and launch these couple of product offerings, get some good sales in to pay for the conferences I need to go to. Hopefully enough to get my E2 visa to be able to move to the US. Do lots with the family. Get fit, as always but this time I know I can do it. We have a good and busy year ahead with many challenges and opportunities.

Job/Career - After several years of working hard and learning I took it "easy" last year. Need to get back into it and get charted this year.

Car(s) - Still car less at young age of 35 but after finally buying property last year I don't have to save as much. Haven't driven in years so gonna start slowly in my GF's little Yaris and most likely book some driving lessons before I venture onto open roads. :)

Holiday - Other than going back to visit my parents for couple of weeks and a long weekend I spent all my holidays working on my flat. Going to Cyprus in 5 weeks with GF, can't wait.

Relationship / Family- Been with my GF for about 18 months and it's going well

Home / Property - Bought my 1st flat in march, still need to add/ replace some kitchen cabinets and my "man cave"/ spare room is not finished yet either

High - Flat purchase

Low - Not winning lottery :D

2016 Plans - Get bit more qualifications under my belt and start driving.

Job/Career - Got a job as a 1st line IT technician, left, then got a job as a 2nd line IT technician.

Car(s) - Sold my beloved Polo and bought a grey Toyota.

Holiday - What's that?

Relationship / Family - Lets not talk about my relationship... / My Grandfather passed away sadly.

Home / Property - Still living at home, had to start paying "keep" because my parents want me to move out so much that they are taking money away from me each month, hence delaying it.

High - There really wasn't one, 2015 was a rubbish year.

Low - My Grandfathers passing I suppose.

2016 Plans - Save money, fix up my car, plan and go on a Euro road trip with some friends, take lots of photos, try to enjoy my job in the mean time.

Job/Career - Promotion in work. Highly regret taking the promotion now and I am looking for work elsewhere.

Car(s) - Purchased Yamaha YBR 125 and it is now my mode of transportation. Amazing fuel economy.

Holiday - Two weeks spent in Riviera Maya, Mexico. Probably the best holiday of my life. Spent an eye-watering amount of money in total.

Relationship / Family- Nothing new.

Home / Property - Extension to current residence = no sleep.

High - Promotion

Low - Promotion (after three months)

2016 Plans - New job, move out, maybe get a car, have a baby.

Job/Career - Pretty much the same as last year. New shifts coming means there could be new opportunities for promotion.

Car(s) - Bought a new daily in the form of a Saab 9-5 Aero estate. Fantastic dog carrier and been utterly reliable. (M.O.T due in two weeks!) Gt-Four finally got it back on the road after 6 months of hibernation although it now needs the rear shocks rebuilding. Currently putting away funds for a forged rebuild as well. Got to keep those hyper hatches in their place ;).

Holiday - A long weekend in Butlins with the family. Was pleasantly surprised by the experience despite the English weather. All holiday money went into a new bathroom.

Relationship / Family- Very strong at the moment. Hopefully going to try for another child once our new shifts are sorted.

Home / Property - New bathroom done this summer. New Home Cinema and wall mounted TV. Kitchen is on the cards this year but will be getting a loan for that.

High - New bathroom finished after the constant nagging to get it done!

Low - No Holidays abroad this year

2016 Plans -

Going to the Goodwood festival of speed this year. Also got holiday for the Silverstone GP/Euro 2016 final so will go to which ever seems to offer the most (F1 was pretty dire last year). Will also be doing a little european tour. Visiting my mother in Poland and going up to Lithuania. Still undecided on which car to take! Also hoping to do a lot more track days next year as the car has been behaving!

So it was a good thread last year.
https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18642132&highlight=username_Dr+House

Job/Career -Same job, love it.

Car(s) - Legacy GTB and the Madza 23 Sport.

Holiday - Did the Otago Rail Trail, also went to Russell several times.

Relationship / Family- Still married.

Home / Property - Still have our nice house.

High - Justin.

Low - Jessica Biel.

2016 Plans - I am finishing an EP although it's only 3 songs and it won't be put out as 3 songs but probably on Soundspace or MYMUSAC!! or whatever, I really don't know or care. My main concern is the low pass filter on the vocal (I am a terrible singer, also) and the stereo separation on the final mix is a worry. The guitars sound pretty good and I enjoy layering them like logs on a musical fire. It's also important, I think, to keep the vocal front and centre and whilst experimenting with +/- %10 pans is good to cente the mix, it's probably not a useful ongoing use of time. Drums sound boss.

Other plans - will buy a new car I think as the Legacy is fun but old.

Job - resigned from my GP partnership in December. Amount of time being at work (12-13 hour days) was becoming unreasonable and decided to accept I can't put in the time to cure the social ills of area I work and need to think more of myself and family. Following resignation discovered our practice manager had been defrauding us for years (at least 5 years before I even joined partnership) total stolen in region of 250k

Cars - Nissan Leaf is still nicest car I've ever had, but not a car nut

Holiday - staycations at centre parcs and in Devon

Family - lovely wife and 2 small sprogs who bring smiles and frustration in equal measures

House - live in same house have done for 12 years. Still standing

High - finally making right decision to leave work having thought about it for a year. Wife loving her teacher training career change making her v happy

Lows - being burnt out from work. Being defrauded and still having to pay the evil cow due to the ridiculous laws on sacking someone who goes on sick as soon as they sniff trouble. Takes far too long

2016 - start my new portfolio GP career. Enjoy having more time for myself and family and generally get my headspace right. Feel very positive for next 12m

Job/Career - torrid 2015, spent working away in a sister company during a really challenging time for them. It ended well, returning back to my original company and we've just managed to negotiate a sale away from the main group. Hoping for a promotion as part of that later this year.

Car(s) - In my 4th year of my 2011 Audi A1 1.4 Sport. I've never kept a car as long as this one, and will probably keep it to see if it is worth handing down to my son in 18 months time once he passes his test

Holiday - awesome year, basically holidaying as much as possible to run away from work. F1 testing in Jerez, Spain in February, motorcycle trip through France and the Pyrenees in April, stag do in Prague in May, honeymoon in Croatia in July, motorcycle trip in the Peak District in September and La Palma, Canary Islands in November

Relationship / Family- mixed. Married in June which was great but my Dad's health is continuing to deteriorate and legal action against the NHS is dragging on for too long.

Home / Property - decorated the study but did little else. We were fortunate enough to be able to spend another year seriously overpaying the mortgage which gives us a shot at repaying it in full this year. Started to tart up our other property to get ready to sell it in 2016

High - seeing my fiancee step around the corner in her wedding dress for the first time, and marring her a few minutes later

Low - watching my Dad's health decline and my Mum struggle to help him, and feeling powerless to do anything to prevent it

2016 Plans - very much a 'life's too short not to' year. If we can we'll finally finish our mortgage, but getting in the way is F1 testing in Barcelona in March, motorcycle trip to Belgium and France in April, motorcycle trip to the Alps in June, family holiday to the Canary Islands in August and in September Singapore for the F1 grand prix followed by Vietnam. Supporting my Dad as much as I can in getting him through the last parts of legal action against the NHS and getting him to a place where he feels he's got some justice. Pursue a key promotion at work to try and join the main board. Decorate the lounge (this goes on the list every year).

Job/Career - Started out the year teaching people to fly. Enjoyable job for little reward. Latter part of the year I landed my dream job as a Commercial Pilot

Car(s) - Still driving my trusty X-Reg BMW 320ci. Doing about 25,000 miles a year.

Holiday - Only real time abroad with my other half to visit her friends in Amsterdam

Relationship / Family- Still with my girlfriend of 3 years now (poor girl!)

Home / Property - Still living under parents roof

High - Achieving my dream after 22 years of saying I would do it.

Low - Winter as a Flight Instructor living on less than £400 a month!

2016 Plans - Get my career stable, get my own flat, start paying back debts, loose a bit of podge. Also build a water cooled PC ;)

Job/Career - Was offered a full time job when I graduate uni for the company I work for part time right now, but don't really want to take it. Heading to New York in a couple of weeks to meet some friends who own several companies, so I'm going to drop incredibly unsubtle hints about wanting a job :p

Car(s) - Changed my Jag XJ6 for a Jag XJ Super V8. Absolutely love it and it only cost me £300 more than I sold my old one for. On a less positive note, I blew up the engine in my MR2 turbo at silverstone, still haven't got round to fixing it yet.

Holiday - Did a road trip with some friends through Europe which was fantastic. Also visited various other countries whilst I was living in France.

Relationship / Family- Nothing serious, went on quite a few dates, still have no desire for anything long term. Did something rather silly on new years but thankfully seem to have got away with it.

Home / Property - Moved out of my lovely apartment by the beach in france back to my parents house for the final year of uni. Quite a comedown. :p

High - Holidays/nights out in France

Low - Moving back in with my parents

2016 Plans - Graduate with a 2.1, move out into my own place, get a decent full time job. So nothing difficult or anything :p

Where are you starting work again? Looking forward to it? I hope 2016 is better than 2015 for you!

Job/Career - Passed the year despite having 2 months off with a broken ankle which allowed me to go out of my training programme for research into oesophageal cancer. Paying my salary by working on the renal transplant unit and really enjoying it, it's a really nice change of subject and great to experience something that I wouldn't have been able to on my rotation. Perhaps even a new career direction! Got to concentrate on research first though.

Car(s) - Still got my S2000. Rear suspension should be sorted early this year in time for the nice weather. Cycling or walking to work which limits it to fun driving!

Holiday - Zanzibar, Indonesia (honeymoon), plenty of UK based fun visiting friends and a special trip to Le Manoir

Relationship / Family- Got married in August. Still wearing the wedding ring and really spoiled to both be out of our training programmes pursuing research in walking distance for home.

Home / Property - Still in Birmingham. Extension disaster which has taken over a year, still isn't finished and has left us out of pocket. Serious problems with the work, poor workmanship, unreliability and deceit. Genuinely thought they might pull the acro-jacks out the week before our wedding having not installed the steel. Was shouted at on the phone more times than I'd care to recall. Back on the right track now luckily and much less stressed, just need our decorator to come now and to sort the outside. Might even do the loft at some stage once the stress levels have gone down!!

High - Getting married, honeymoon, holidays, starting research, rehabilitating my ankle, spending time with family and friends.

Low - Starting the year in an aircast, building work disaster.

2016 Plans - Finish building work (on track thankfully), get funding for research, play rugby, go skiing and have fun!

Guy's, I have full reg but Im going to locum as a FY1 for now and go back into FY2 in August. Im really looking forward to it but at the same time I am really a bit scared. You must be STx by now?

Thanks, last year was full of change, ok not the best year but I did a lot of self development which is good.

Good luck with it! Must be a bit scary getting back into it - I hope you enjoy it though! Very sensible doing some F1 locums before embarking on your F2. Are your F1 competencies still valid or do you have to sign those off again?

I'm out on research at the moment but I'm ST6 now. Time flies when you're having fun!

Job/Career - working away start of last year. Lot of money but didn't like the people so came back. Then didn't like the way the company was going so they offered me redundancy and I took it. Trying to get into uni now...

Car(s) - still Y reg Ford Focus. had it for about 7 years. Never did anything to it last year other than MOT...

Holiday - Was due to have a couple = car knocking me off my push bike stopped me cycling in Pyrenees and doing the Scope 24hr ride to Paris.

Relationship / Family- started off with a thing but we weren't suited. I didn't understand her and it got messy so I called it off.

Home / Property - Still got a house and trying to put a false ceiling over stairs and fitted wardrobe in but thinking twice now if I have to rent house out.

High - Didn't have a lot of highs. Think the best was taking redundancy. Opens another door up.

Low - A couple I've taken on board but it's made me very wary of allowing me into that position again.

2016 Plans - Hopefully uni.... to do what or where I have no idea? I'd like to become a HGV driver too but I might not be allowed because I've had a head injury... I have a lot of hopes however I'm used to things not working out or working out different in expectations. Continue seeing physio and recovering from accident - 6 months on....

Job/Career - Secured my promotion from last year  pay is good but the office environment is slowly falling apart with another impending re-org. 18 months till I qualify for the "great" pension so as long as I can stick that out I will be sitting pretty and can move on to somewhere more interesting.

Car(s) - Polo was scrapped after another mot failure in July, replaced with a mk4 Golf. It's not that inspiring but it's like driving an arm chair which will do until I have housing sorted properly.

Holiday - Europa League tour last season was a blast! Holland was genuinely the funniest place I've been to eventually see us play in Arnhem, will go back again! Went to Denmark for the second game against Midjitland in Herning. Great holiday apart from the football and have to get out there again (for multiple reasons).

Relationship / Family - 6 weeks after the 2014 review thread I finally freed my self of the ex, took far far too long to do but I broke more or less on my 26th birthday after she met some very old friends and I couldn't believe the mess she ended up being.

Since then dating has been a hilarious rollercoaster of women more or less falling into the same pattern of wanting me to replace ex's they had...

Have however met the most brilliant Danish woman who seems to be doing her best effort in reminding me there are real people out there and I'm loving it :D

Home / Property - Found a flat in September I really wanted, took 2 months to trundle through a mortgage application then another 2 to get through some solicitors queries. At the end of which the garage turned out to be unmortgageable  seller didn't see this as a problem (as it was for them, their solicitor ignored the lack of insurance basically) and they wouldn't accept any negotiation on the price leaving me to walk away (I couldn't afford to buy the garage outside of the mortgage).

Shame but it's back to saving and starting again.

High - getting rid of the ex being a landmark, holidays, permanent contract signing, meeting Danish girl, generally getting my self in order, couple of amazing gigs this year as well!

Low - loosing the flat, the slightly desperate situation of the average girl in my age bracket (either wants a relationship after 3 dates or me to replace someone they were dating),

2016 Plans - Try and buy again, hopefully the change on buy-to-let will help that one as I don't want to be living at home any more and would like to stay in St Albans (if I can afford it). Other plans to enjoy my time with the new girl, go to football and gigs as much as I can, maybe get a more interesting car if things level out. Investigate a job that will be genuinely interesting.
