Liverpool's first pre-season game vs Tranmere is about to kick-off. Karius, Matip and Mane are all making their debuts, of sorts.

I've learnt not to take too much notice of senior players performances in pre-season. Agree on the 3 young lads though - not convinced Randall will ever make it with us but the latter 2 are very highly thought of.

I think Randall's problem is that he's just not good enough. He's alright defensively but lacks any physical attribute to really excel - he's not particularly quick, tall or strong - and he's bang average technically so isn't going to make the grade as an offensive full back either.

I see him similarly to how I see/saw Flanagan only probably not even as good as him - he might do ok at times but ultimately not good enough.

Liverpool currently 1-0 up in their 2nd pre-season game. Grujic has looked lively, getting the goal, he's also hit the post and won a penalty that Ings missed.

Yea, I noticed the other week that we seem to be playing a lot of games but I was thinking about it again yesterday and in reality does it make any difference? Had we not been playing these games the players would have been training anyway and pre-season games, in particular the earlier ones, are pretty much just fitness sessions anyway.

Liverpool - Milan kicking off in an hour. Milner starting at LB and Wijnaldum playing CM in a 2 will be interesting to see.

edit: turns out it's a 4-3-3/4-1-4-1 with Henderson sitting and then Lallana and Wijnaldum just ahead.

You're the only guy in the country staying up for that one :p

Fell asleep at HT :p

Just got round to watching the 2nd half and like the 1st, we played really well. Dominated a poor Milan side from start to finish. Origi in particular looked impressive.

Liverpool 11 to play Roma:

------------Manninger
Clyne---Lovren---Klavan---Milner
-------Wijnaldum--Can
-----Mane---Firmino---Ojo
-------------Sturridge

Milner again starting at LB and we should see Wijnaldum actually playing as an out and out CM this time.

We ended up playing a 4-3-3/4-1-4-1 with Henderson sitting and then Lallana and Wijnaldum ahead of him. We've got plenty of midfielders that can play the box to box roles in a 4-3-3, we don't have many that can in a 2 man midfield though so it'll be interesting to see how he does alongside Can tonight.
