2016/17 Pre-season Friendly Thread

Supposedly nothing serious but he's unlikely to start vs Arsenal now. I wouldn't have been surprised if Firmino started the Arsenal game anyway - Klopp's big on players being 100% fit and ready and I'd have expected him to field a side mainly of players that have had the full pre-season.

As I said earlier, if Ings and Origi start the season in good form I can't see Sturridge getting a look in.

Neither will get as many goals as a fit Sturridge will but both will get their fair share and contribute far more to the team :)

It's not going to be Ings and Origi, it's Firmino and Origi. The fact that Ings hasn't started nor come on at HT is quite telling in regards to who'll start the season.

Really embarrased by the actions of some Liverpool fans today :o
Sorry, meant one or the other. I expect Origi to start upfront on his own but Ings seems the more likely to get game time and be happy with a substitute roll at the moment. Honestly can't see Sturridge being here after Christmas.

I think you'll be surprised re Sturridge. And as I've always said it's difficult to see how Sturridge leaves - who can afford him and would want him and who could we get with the money we'd get for him? Sturridge for 60% of the time is better than who we'd sign as a replacement for 100% of the time.

Yea, Lallana has played well playing in midfield in a 4-3-3 - less pressure on him to score too. Not sure the pressing thing is as easy as you make it seem though. We're well ahead of Barca in pre-season. A fully fit Barca on their game can make you look stupid if you try to press them and don't get it right.

I'm sure the fitness guru's know what they're doing :p

We pretty much played 2 different teams. A few players that didn't play the entire game yesterday played a few minutes today and vice versa. I don't think anybody played more than 90 minutes across the 2 games. It just allowed us to give minutes to the likes of Matip, Grujic, Henderson and Moreno, who've not played much in pre-season and also allowed Klopp to fine tune his starting 11 for the Arsenal game in the Barca match.
