Chilli (fruit) maggot/fly probably - same problem I had. Got more on the plant but will always get some if outdoors. My Trinidad has too many fruits.. the plants are too heavy now and in the wind the plants fall over, the Bhut stems snapped due to the weight of foliage too! Not used to the growth rate in the wild I suspect.

Made some awesome sweet pear &a pineapple hot sauce with three Trinidad scorpion pods
Taste goes.. pear, bit of pineapple then boom heat numb tongue and then pear and hits of chilli.. and after the long burn final aftertaste is clean with hints of chilli.

Any chance of you posting a recipe, that sounds nice - though I'd probably use scotch bonnets

Thought that dehydrating the pear before to add pear punch would be good - it's a more subtle taste than some sauces but no mistaking the chilli with 3 Trinidad scorpions!
