2019: What are your motoring plans?

Having spent quite a bit on my Megane R26 this year (remap to 296/307, discs and pads all round, PS4 tyres all round, alloys refurbed, new engine and gearbox mounts, sports cat to name some of the work carried out) next year I plan on just driving it! Only clocked up about 3.5k miles in the past 12 months and zero track days so hopefully 2019 will see more road miles, some UK trackdays, and if possible getting it over to the Nurburgring to see how it compares to my old mx5 and EP3 CTR around there.

Actually drive the car rather than look at it in the garage...

Yeah this is my perennial problem with my RX7 as it's been a 8 year long project from converting to V8 and I barely do 1000 mils each year. I was contemplating electrification having bought an EV for daily driving. The aftermarket electronic and motor conversions are readily available but battery packs are still a significant cost and quite quite at the energy density I want to keep weight down with a reasonable range.

Sooo I will possibly upgrade the heads and cam to a properly choppy setup after watching too much Cleetus McFarland on YT though it's never as easy to do in the UK. Roads here are just getting worse each year in quality and congestion so that's always in the back of my mind if I make the car less derivable. EV conversion would counter a lot of that.

You know me Gibbo.

Wanting to track the C63 more next year, more driving trips and of course whatever the new acquisition will be!

Well there will be plenty of track days, some Santa pod days and an NC500 trip at some point. :)

I’ve been watching a lot of NSX videos gonna add it to my list of test drives.

Oh for sure mate. For the price they are a real consideration. It's just all of the tech and lack of local specialist that can deal with them if they go wrong really.

I'm tempted to do track day in Jan but I feel alittle to at the mercy of the weather.

Book track day last minute as they rarely sell out this time of year!

Honda mate, they never break!

As soon as the ISF comes out of winter storage, it's service time. After that I really want to fit a Jap stainless/titanium exhaust system to make the most of the V8 sound, but I'm concerned it will invalidate the Lexus warranty I've recently extended :(

I've a little one coming soon, so that may shift my focus somewhat. 2019, exciting times :D

Mini GP:

Taking the Mini back to Lohen for a service and a bunch of other things -
* New uprated clutch and flywheel - stock one is on the way out
* Replace the front undertray - seen better days
* Replace front wheelarch liners - these have also seen better days. And more... Going to be an expensive month

* Trackdays - I have a number of tracks I'd like to visit. First stop will be Bedford next month. Following that, I don't know. Hopefully the 'ring again.

Replace the GP or find a new friend for the GP:

The Lotus Exige is looking like the favourite. Problem is that I don't know which variant to consider.

Caterham - off to the dealership in Crawley tomorrow to have a look through their stock but there's a few good ones there. Also my finance deal is up on the family wagon (Octavia estate) this time next year so got to work out what next. An Audi A4 estate might be the answer, good for towing the Caterham around .

Off to the Ring with mates for the annual weekend and that’s about my plan for 2019. Might swap the R8 for something else or might keep it. All depends on the world state next year.
