2021 FA Community Shield Man City v Leicester [Saturday 7th August 2021 5:15pm]

Just said that Leicester are serial trophy winners?!?!?

1 league and 1 FA cup in 6 years is not a regular occurrence to me, yes it's better than some clubs but they can hardly be called regular.

City won't use the youth team as they've shown they haven't got anyone in there otherwise they'd be playing him surely?
No. I agree. Better recent form than Arsenal and Spurs though isn't it!

Yes of course and no sleight to Leicester but the commentary is poor it's clutching at so many straws it makes me laugh, it's got to be a good time to be a Leicester fan though as they have a team that will keep them up there in the shout come the end of the season.

Is it wrong that I miss Micah Richards excellent punditry today? I'm sure he would've been highlighting all of the clear chances Man City missed and telling everyone Leicester were lucky and could've lost 10-0 on another day.

I hope so. For once the run-out doesn't look so bad compared to the last few seasons.

I quite agree re the commentary. Did you hear ITV's Euro commentary for the England semi and final? it was weird, almost satirical at times.

His dad's obviously John Barnes!

John, Paul, we just need to find a George and Ringo...

Got a George, anyone find a Ringo?

Yes, it is wrong. I don't mind Micah (his incessant laugh excepted), but I certainly don't miss his biased punditry. I don't mind club allegiance (Wrighty etc) but you can do that and be neutral/honest in your match analysis.

I'm not sure why Richards get so much stick. Most pundits are rubbish, at least he's funny.

Exactly. The majority are garbage. How people like Neil Atkinson arent being looked at by these tc companies is beyond me then again, i dont know how much TAW make.

He's filled in back there before IIRC.

Bertrand was a free transfer a week or two ago it seems. When a club let a player run out the clock and go on a free there's a reason why they let it happen. At least we didn't shell out for him I guess. I never rated him at Southampton, but I guess it's better than splashing the cash. So long as we can get another player in with the money saved.

if your a big fan then you must realise that bertrand was a coy purchase ...has experience and is solid and has done weill pre season and we have not had to splash out big cash for him.

factor in we also have luke thomas who will be very good soon and will learn from bertrand and also justin and castange who both are as good at lb and rb but injured at the minute the bertrand signing makes perfect sense to free up funding for areas where we do need to spend money like a right winger and another centreback

He could pay us to take him and I'd still say no thanks. I just don't think he's very good. At least it's not Aurier.

He’s not particularly funny, he’s just energetic and he is fantastically biased towards Man City. I can think of any other pundits who come close to his bias.
Exactly. There's nothing wrong with allegiance/refering to "us" and having a club, but you can be neutral and unbiased in saying what was good/bad in a match. It seems the personal investment in the club means he seems to struggle in detaching from the loyalty and he kind of gets paternal about it. Something of a "I've got to defend my kids" mentality is how it comes across a bit. Shearer and Wrighty both love their clubs but are able to tear strips off them when they deserve it. Richards needs to learn from them.
