2023 Track Day Thread

Video of the Alpine on track:

It carries so much more speed through corners and able to brake so late even with only 300PS nothing else on this track day really came close, cracking car. :)

Had my day at castle combe on Friday.
Went well and had my first taste of driving in the wet. Surprised at how much grip I had to be honest, and was pushing a lot harder than I though I wold be able to. Did get a bit overeager though and had a massive slide I somehow recovered.
Highlight of the day though is a guy took his limo round! :D

Ive not had time to do any track days this year I don't think, only managing racing which I haven't done as much as last year with either!

Got croft racing weekend coming up this weekend, then straight into Monday and Tuesday at Castle Combe with a new driver in our team, also have Paul oNeil coming to some driver coaching with him as well.

Off to the Nurburgring at the end of the month for a 2 day track day with Destination Nurburgring. Road and race cars, so should be extra fun :)

Jealous mate, really wanna go there, maybe next year

Pay the extra and do a closed track day. The risks are too high on public days for me now, more for the insurance of 3rd parties should an accident occur. British people are somewhat more exposed on that than most Europeans I believe.

Home from a weekend at the Nurburgring. Had a great time. Managed to get a couple of laps of Nords and GP track combined on the Saturday evening.

Car ran faultlessly. I've had it 4 years, done 8K miles in that time, 3K of which in the last month :)

I did briefly read something about that.
Is it that if you have a bump with another car abroad, your insurer will just pay out and get the money back from you?

More to do with if it goes wrong on the Ring and worst case, someone loses their life. Then the family of said person could come after you as an individual, which I believe you will have no insurance protection for as UK insurance excludes the Nurburgring completely (including 3rd party). That could become a real minefield.

That is my understanding and few of my mates have been discussing it. Not my area of expertise.

Did one of those driving experiences at Castle Combe today and the Elise blew me away with how well it went round corners. So... since my wife has forbidden me from tracking our cooper S, I'm looking for a cheapo project car that I can thrash round the track. Effectively, today taught me that you don't need a powerful car to have fun, so I'm starting to understand the MX5 nuts. Because apparently PCs aren't an expensive enough hobby for me.

Not done hardly any track days lately, just racing. I have booked Thruxton track day beginning of next month as I've never been there and we are racing there soon!

I have also been trying to get sponsorship on board for a drive I've been offered in the TCR Series for the last round at Silverstone International! So if anyone has any good ideas on how to get some, I'm all ears

Went to Thruxton today, what a track.. absolutely flat out pretty much! Something very wrong about holding the throttle to the floor from one corner through the next and church is insane... Never used 6th gear in the Audi either! Today I did! Insane speeds and I'm looking forward to racing there this coming weekend.

My race team will be at Driven by Racing on November 16th and 17th with our Audi TT Cup cars at Silverstone national layout. I'll be giving passenger laps to people and if you want to drive one we are charging £150 per session.

This is more aimed at people wanting to go racing, but thought I'd mention it here as well.

Also looking to get some partners on board with the team for next year should anyone also be interested in that and what we can offer!
