2024 Chilli Growing Thread

hows peoples chilli doing ?

in the end i put 4 out. tomatoes just didnt end up doing well so did californian bell pepper. 2 carolina reapers and one jalopeano. doing pretty well. not flowering yet.

Mine died this year.

I went on holiday for a week and neglected to open the roof vent in the greenhouse. They were well watered but the temperatures soared.

My Naga Purple is showing a single small pepper coming through, yay.
The other 5 are slightly behind this one, with plenty of leaves but fewer flowers.
Might be time to put them outside for me, they're getting too big for the windowsill.

Just did the second harvest off my overwintered Scotch Bonnet. They are a little on the small side, any ideas? My chillis sown this year are just about to bud up.

My one Jalapeno is fruiting well and some coming nicely on the Tokyo Hots too. Habaneros are budding away, Scorpions and Bhut Jolokias are very healthy looking but still light on buds, think they were worst hit by the aphids which seem to have mostly gone now. These are all in the greenhouse where it's been a struggle to keep them watered enough, except I've now put 2 of the Bhuts outside both to free up some space for airflow and see how they get on in comparison.

Did you change some of the root ball soil at the start of the year? The replacement gives them more nutrients. Also feeding something like chilli focus helps (seaweed extract IIRC).

I ended up buying a random Chilli plant from the garden centre as I wasn't in the country at the start of the year to plant any seeds of my own.

Next year I plan to buy some seeds from South Devon Chilli Farm :D
