Hi all,

PSU Seasonic Focus GX 750
CPU 5800X3D
GPU RTX 2070S
Hi all, recently took the plunge for a midlife upgrade (5800x3d), now on the hunt for a reliable GPU that won't break the bank. Ideally want 20-25% increased performance over the 2070s, whilst remaining under £500 budget. I don't have access to members market afaik and would prefer to buy brand new for warranty etc. I want something that draws slightly less power than my existing gpu, cooler and ideally quieter. If I am best to wait, please let me know.

Best wishes

It's not a good time to be buying current gen cards. But how about a 6800XT? Maybe stretch to a 4070. Either should give more than 50% over the 2070S.

20-25% is not a lot. you should be looking at ~50% increase at minimum...which incidentally puts you in the range of the rx6800+ or 3070ti+ or 4070+

personally, i previously made a swap from a 1080ti (same performance as a 2070s) to a 6700xt which is 15-20% faster. it did not feel noticeably better...and so i eventually swapped it out for a 3080 instead...

I'm not entirely sure what to expect in terms of performance gains, but i'd like at least 20-25%, more if possible but my budget is pretty constrained. 4070 is above my budget, 6800xt falls just right, but - I don't like the look of them...... pathetic I know

if you're gonna spend a pretty penny...at least spend it properly :p
honestly not worth the swap out unless you get 50%+ gains tbh

6800 does indeed fall within my budget and about 50% performance improvement over 2070s, but it draws 250w!?! which is quite a bit more than my existing card. Would my 750w PSU manage?
the 2070s draws 215w so not much more
and as jedi says, your 750w psu will handle that easily...i'm running a 5800x3d with a 3080 (320w) on a 750w psu

I'd go for that 6800XT Red Dragon though for 499 personally.
its on pre-order though...might not come back into stock?

You're PSU will be fine and I'd say the 6800XT will give you the most for your money as the increase will should be well over 50%.

What res do you game at?

1440p Samsung gsync monitor, not sure what hz though, prob 120

If your monitor doesn't have Freesync and you're invested in making full use of your monitors technology you'll have to stretch to a 4070, otherwise the 6800(XT) options are your best bet.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,717.96 (includes delivery: £7.99)

Under The Stairs!
There's nothing wrong with Radeon btw, I use both vendors, so if you want to stick to budget go 6800XT although it lacks in RT in comparison but is offset with 16Gb vram for future proofing.

But if you're wanting to stick to NV, I wouldn't buy one of those cheaper 70s posted above for the sake of saving £20, in comparison to the 4070FE-they look junk!

I'd turn on DLSS/FSR and either save up more for 4070FE for no hassle warranty or hold out for a 4070 with a 3yr warranty to drop in price, preferably Zotac for the UK RMA centre and 5 yr warranty if you register with Zotac.
