Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. Having been through an horrendous time with Nvidia recently returning an unwanted 2080 and having to wait over 3 weeks just to get an RMA number, I would certainly not want to be getting a GPU direct from them in the future!!
Well I've got a EVGA 2080Ti XC Ultra being delivered tomorrow and I don't give a ####. If it's faulty, it'll get replaced at a slight inconvenience.
.
If a Don reads this perhaps they could close this thread as it serves no real purpose, faulty cards should be discussed in the owners thread by owners.
You could have made the comment then left it at that but you and a few others seem to be taking pleasure in other peoples misfortune.
The thread is valid, the posts that some of you are making isn't! Simple as that and not much gets me angry but reading some of the comments in here does boil my blood. I thought we were all enthusiasts, regardless of what is in our machines
I think I read somewhere today that underclocking the memory helped but obviously not ideal..
Just wanted to say thanks for the heads up.
We've just had 18x 2080 Ti FE's free issued by one of our customers, I was oblivious to the fact we were even using them in anything, but I have let the lead project engineer know about the potential failures and advised extended testing before signing off the systems for release back to the customer. The build are being processed this week, so I'll update if we see any failures.
It's highly disappointing to see this sort of QC/QA issue, but it is one of those things that sometimes happens. I do feel bad for the individual users who pay substantial sums of money for these cards, and might be left without a system for a while, hopefully Nvidia can sort them out quickly.
oops missed off 'repair or replacement'. Getting distracted by my Border Collie going apeshit at some scrotes setting off fireworks
The fins are moulded to it, but it looks like there is no airflow across the surface of the card itself.
This guy took one apart, looks pretty ridiculous actually. Around 50 screws to remove the cooler lol
No wonder they are so expensive, most of the money probably went in to screwing it together...
Must have exceeded their screw budget and had to go the superglue route.
My 2080 Ti is DOA - I get a flash of a display at POST for a split second then the signal to the display port seems to terminate / fail and the monitor screen goes black / into power save mode and says no signal detected. My system throws up a bunch of ASUS Q-Codes on the motherboard LED and either hangs or reboots with different Q-Codes...
Am so mad right now. Gonna try to get some sleep and put my old card back in tomorrow.
Draining my loop and cutting new tubes (soft) is a hassle.
Do I call Nvidia and ask about whether or not I voided my warranty by installing a Waterblock, or just put the Nvidia Heatsink assembly back on and say nothing to them other than I want a refund?
BTW I've been watercooling systems for years and never had this happen to me before, I'm quite happy I didn't nuke the card at any stage.
Brilliant, just brilliant...
