Hey, I'm in the market for a 2080TI for 3D gaming.

Is there any specific 2080ti model(s) which have far superior model to the others or are they all pretty much equal? Given how much the prices have reduced as they're so old, I think I will have a decent choice of the cards.

Do your research and stay away from the models with built in space invaders game. Can't remember the ones that suffered with it but was a well known thing at the time.

The EVGA Black were pretty good IIRC.

I've been using a Palit one for the last few years. Lovely card, runs all new games at higher or highest settings in 4k. No issues with it at all so far. I got it for a good price 2nd hand before everything went crazy.

There all pretty much the same 3 fan cards are usually quieter.

The ones with problems will be long gone now. You'd know soon as you turn it on anyway.

Maybe look out for a 3070. Seen some go for around £400

Early batch?

Yeah it was. I got a 2080ti EVGA Black in a later batch which was fine for a bit (although the GPU chip blew (with a BANG) and cracked a corner off the GPU due to their AIO cooler being faulty but thats another story)

I need a 2080ti for 3D gaming. 30 series dont support it sadly.

Not sure what you mean by 3d gaming ?

I do get that the 2080ti has more raw power. And the the 3070 is better because of the features

3D gaming is gaming in 3D. Essentially NVIDIA 3D vision. So things pop out of the screen. It requires a 2080TI or below, and a 3D vision capable monitor or passive 3D display. Its incredible.

Facepalm. Yeah sorry. Thought that all died years ago.

I do have a old rift. It's was excellent. It does make things more immersive

Its pretty much dead. Small niche group left supporting it. Just played Kena in 3D and its insane. Using Geo-11 driver, a 30 series card can do it so there is hope!

Would a first gen rift not be better? I've seen a few games be modded. GTA is something else. Not sure how far it's come in the last few years. I e not used it for a long time. The original rift was great with a 1080ti

no the resolution is crap on the rift. i had a valve index and tried 3D gaming on their and it just sucks.

full 4K passive 3D is gorgeous. its not really comparable to VR. it looks like a portal in your living room to an entirely different world.

yep 3d vision is still amazing, just about to step up to a 4090 after almost 4 years but i'll be keeping my evga 2080ti ftw3(can recommend these, quietish too) just for 3d, try and get a 1440p 3d monitor too, it's a HUGE upgrade over 1080p, think only 2 or maybe 3 monitors did it, mines an asus rog pg278qr
