Cant really compare between brands, also is the LG 100hz? In the grand scheme of things, a couple hundy aint much over the presumed few years you will have it.

It is a hardware solution vs the software of freesync though is it not? inherently more expensive just there. i admit there will be nvidia tax in there too though :)

Im sure for the end user, the differences between the technologies is small enough not to notice anything between them, fact is though, if you use nvidia cards, you have no choice. Im very happy with what i paid for my monitor and graphics card and wouldnt change to amd. same as some poeple would never not buy an audi, etc Choices are good!

I'm not knocking anyones decision, and whilst the 2 monitors i listed are not exactly like-for-like, i picked the 2 cheapest comparable models at that resolution.

My point remains that Gsync is a very considerable investment compared to Freesync.

Had i chosen the ROG Swift @ £1289, in my comparison , could you justify what is now double the price ?

That is like buying the LG and getting a free GTX1080

Do any of you guys have the LG 34UC88?

Would you recommend it, is there something else at same price point or close that I should consider? I need to make up my mind and pull the trigger on black friday whether it comes up for sale or not.

I bought one a month ago ..its huge :) , UM model as I wanted a FLAT screen!.

Well impressed with it, bit of IPS glow but I think that is more down to the width of the monitor, no dead pixels of any real backlight bleed problems. Mated to the Ergotron MX arm= perfect

Is it essentially the same screen/monitor then just non-curved?

How do you find it for gaming, any problems you've encountered at all? That will be its only use.

No Issues gaming at all, been playing BF1 none stop on it at the widest FOV you can set in the game.....it looks stunning at 3440x1440.

I'd buy another in an instant so happy with it.

awesome sauce! :D

What gpu are you running it with? gonna be a big jump from my current 1920x1080 60Hz monitor

^^^

I've run BF1 with a 290X and 1070, both at 75Hz refresh rate.
Both handled to game fine, 290X on high, 1070 on ultra :).
CPU is 6700K

Folks, sorry for another X34 question, but am I right in saying I need to connect this up to the display port on the back of my 980TI GTX?
And does it have to be Dport to Dport (i.e. couldn't I connect Dport from back of monitor to HDMI at the back of the computer?
