Hi there, i have 3 questions for you guys ;)

1. Is there a noticeable difference between 2133MHz ddr4 and 2400MHz ddr4 running on a X99 board?

2. Will/can both overclock to 3000MHz anyway? What would be optimal OC for both if not?

3. Would 32GB 2133MHz work much better than 16GB 2400MHz when doing video editing/rendering?

Thanx in advance :)

1. No, not at all even comparing 2133Mhz to much higher, says, 2666Mhz or 3000Mhz. You wont feel any real world difference.
2. It depends on the RAM itself as well as your luck with the CPU as the Integrated memory controller is inside the CPU.
3. Yes. Memory Capacity > Memory speed. But if you just render small files, editing short video then there is not much of a difference.

I wasted a day tweaking my memory from 2400 to 2666, on each speed i tried to get the lowest timings possible. I tested several game benchmarks, asus realbench etc. the average increase in games was less than 1fps. It just wasnt worth running with the hight core voltage just to get the bclk at 125.
I put it back to 2400 with nice tight timings, the lower the frequency the tighter the timings u can get away with.

Thanx m8 so would this make sense to you:-

Change
TeamGroup Elite 16GB (4x4GB) DDR4 PC4-19200C16 2400MHz 16-16-16-36

FOR
Crucial 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 PC4-17000C16 2133MHz 16-16-16 (will have some room for ramdisc)

For video and photo editing then more memory is better, same goes for running Virtual machines. I would say that if this is your primary use of the pc then the 32gb will provide some benefit.

For gaming I would choose the 16gb 2400 memory, as there is no requirement for more for at least 5 more years, at which point ddr5 will probably be out.

for op, dont pay more for something unless it has a tangible benefit...currently 2400 is more expensive than 2133, so with no evidence of improvement i suggest you steer clear.
