23yr old killed by Helicopter whilst getting mail...

Why the hell should that spur a debate on the safety of using headphones?

Who on earth would ever consider the dangers of a helicopter crashing into them whilst walking down the road. If he'd been knocked over by a car..

pretty much spot on.....how can headphones be blamed for a helicopter falling onto you???

I could understand it if he walked out inot traffic and missed a car behind him or something...but a helicopter crashing onto you?

I read somewhere that American iPods are allegedly louder than European models, but I didn't realise they were that much louder... unless the helicopter crashed because the engine had died and it was dropping out of the sky silently.

Or you just need to learn how to decypher the news that we get these days:

i.e. The helicopter crashed, he went over to help (with music player on) and got involved....

I think that got removed to be honest, I mean my iPod Touch doesn't output that loud and neither did my iPod Video. :)

hangon a second, what sort of helicopter? radio control or actual helicopter? i'm fairly sure that no personal music player on earth is capable of producing volumes great enough to drown out an actual helicopter.

perhaps if he was using canalphones, with the volume cranked up to max, and he didn't notice the body-throbbing vibrations because of the immense headache caused by the total annhialation of his eardrums...
