24 pin MB Connector Burnt!

There's a similar auxiliary molex power plug on my board in sig. But I've never used it when running sli 670's and 780's. I irecall, even 8 Pack has stated that he hasn't used it on the Z87 oc board, despite running cards clocked much higher than any average user.

I had this happen before when I ran Tri SLI GTX570's, although I was using an extension cable on the 24pin which had melted on one of the pins, once I stopped using the extension all was well.
I think I was using an NZXT Hale 90 1000W, but pushing it really hard, pulling 1100w+ at the wall when benching, so my own fault no doubt. :P

Damn, I have an EVGA board that I have just put 2 old 8800GTX in SLI - how can a company advertise that its specifically designes for tri SLi when the board cannot handle it without purchase of an additional cable!!!

Hi,

running old cards on old boards in SLI is no problem, only if you run new cards on old boards it could cause issues with the 24pin connector and the extra adapter would be needed. The cards that had been certified at product launch for that board will also work without any issues in tripple SLI.
