2407WFP-HC Ghosting problem - solution

ps my screen is from Czech Republic the serial number begins CZ some people are saying it's the HC's from Mexico that have the problem

My screen was from Mexico (MX) and it had ghosting. I think the europeans have problems too.

*Screen sent back today for a refund however I will buy Dell again when they bring out a new revision but first ill make sure it has no defects.

Mine arrived this morning and the ghosting is unbelievable...

Tried all the tweaks, some helped a little but didnt get rid of it.

Its going back on monday and I just ordered a samsung 226bw

Where was your screen made from?

If it's that bad why don't you guys go for the non-HC version (2407WFP), it's a stunning screen and as it's on it's fourth revision it's pretty much dam near perfect, have the vibrance turned up on mine by 10% (via the nividia control panel) and the colors are perfect, read this thread, 2407WFP vs 2407WFP-HC, there's some good comparison shots in here, http://forums.vr-zone.com/showthread.php?t=162570&page=2.

I've got the 2507WFP-HC and I cant see any of this ghosting.

Have looked at the link Baddass posted and tried to copy exactly the situation shown in the youtube video but cant see any ghosting whatsoever. Copied the panning around a WOW character and also the cursor movements on the desktop and nothing. I dont think this is affecting all HC models, atleast it does n't appear to be happening on mine.

Edit - On a second attempt I do get a slight ghosting on the mouse cursor across a blue background but its hardly noticeable tbh. I never noticed it till I was really watching it closely. Well, if Dell are going to offer a replacement then thats good with me, will just wait and see what happens.

colour comparisons on the net have always left me thinking....why? to make an accurate comparison of say...two monitors side by side, you'd need to be looking at the captures using a display thats more accurate than the monitors you are trying to compare. otherwise, you cant see any extra detail or colour range one might have over the other, can you? depending on the display your using, you might not see 'accurate' colours at all lol

you have to laugh.

I have to say I've come to this conclusion. Might as well get the A04 vanilla and be done with it, knowing my luck I'd get the worst ghosting possible. Its always the way, I read about a potential problem, buy it anyway and get the exact same problem. Primarily for gaming, is even the vanilla one better that much better than the Samsung 24" on offer this week?

Thx for all the info, think ill op for the safer option the samsung 24inch @ just over 300 notes and then in few months time when Rev04 HC is out perhaps then ;)

The normal 2407 non hc is the one to get now in my view or at least if the hc issues are not fixed the non hc price has fallen already.

That youtube vid says it all, definatly not touching any Dell for now.

In fact checking there forums here :

http://www.dellcommunity.com/suppor...hread.id=81254&view=by_date_ascending&page=21

seems like dell have finaly admited theres a fault and will go about the process of fixing it.

Apparantly its to do with there own software they put the ability to do contrast under DVI....... that left me scratching my head who releases a £400+ TFT and then u cant adjust the brightness ?

Surely thats a fault if not serious flaw !

But then again.... they did release a £400+ HC version and didnt bother to test it for ghosting issues for 5 minutes ;)

Give if till a few revs I reckon... but by then much better/cheaper options id bet.

For now im lost as to which 24incher screen to go for :(

I've just received the 2407WFP A04 and frankly its awesome imo. Picture is perfect, 4 years warranty, no dead pixels guaranteed, solid as a rock. I love it, they only thing I'm having to deal with is the blindness from opening an all white page.

Its still touted to be the best dell going.....

Now if one could adjust the contrast under DVI perhaps woulda considered it !

That was an early suggestion from ChrisM or something which might have caused it. if you read on, it's not the cause and changing settings makes no difference for the users reporting the problems. To put this into perspective, it seems the ghosting issue is only affecting a selection of people, and it doesnt appear to be a widespread issue effecting every user. A lot of ppl have commented they have no problems too.

This article documents the whole situation too and is updated whenever there's any new info :) http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/articles/dell_2407wfp-hc.htm

Baddass:

Would u advise buying the HC is still an option?

Im at a loss as to which 24inch to perhaps go for.. the Sammy equivelent @ £650 is just way out of price range.. wish it was £450and at least reasonable !

I did love Samsungs features and custom/and preset modes...

Do you think its not a good time to go 24inch LCD shopping? Maybe wait a bit till prices drop and 24inch gets more fine tuned?

i wouldnt say there's any real reason to wait right now, prices will always fluctuate and will decrease over time, but that never changes. you could hang on forever! :) The main change in the 24" market right now is the addition of loads of TN Film models driving costs down. Sadly i dont think we will see as many VA/IPS models at the mo, so the time is still fine to get a model like the 2407WFP etc. The ghosting issue is not affecting everyone it seems, but it's a worry at this stage. i should have chance to test a 2407WFP-HC over this weekend so will see for myself. I'll let you know. You could always opt for the well established 2407WFP regular ver tho :)

iiyama have a 3ms 24" panel ProLite B2403WS 24'' Wide

The new iiyama flag ship 24" display is ideal for both the Home Enthusiast, Gamer and Business professional. The 1920 x 1200 pixel panel has the latest advancements in technology, boasting a 2000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio which can be disabled for greater colour accuracy and a 3msec response time ensuring the best possible video and animation playback with minimal blurring. Of course, the B2403 is HD Ready and incorporates the HDMI input for connectivity between DVD Players, Games Consoles and Graphics Cards choosing this interface type. A HDMI to DVI cable is now included as standard.
