2600k Hong kong

Intel themselves sell the i7 2600K wholesale (1000 CPUs or more) for $317 before tax (£190.47).

How much do you expect to get them for in some shop in HK? Also, best of luck convincing customs that your 10 OEM CPUs are all gifts, you will get one through as duty-free, but you will have to pay duty and VAT on the other 9, after that the profit margins are looking a little tight when you consider you can't offer any warranty.

IIf there are companys in the UK that can ship you a 2600k for £234 just think what thay are over there! bet you a pound to pinch of **** they are around the £100 mark.

The site that was linked to works out at £201.

Good luck buying one for £100. That is less than Intel's wholesale price.

I said they are £200 on ebay! Who knows what they are over there? If you get a saving of £100 well yes its worth it. How many Intel CPUs have you RMAd ? Fool!

I wouldn't go around calling people a fool. It could get you suspended.

I wasnt! I was just using it the same as the post above.

Hang on! that link above says intel costs are £190 per unit?
So lets say OCC or anyone orders them, pays all the import and VAT, then sells them for £240.

Just for your records you can have 3.

3? 3 what?

3 CPUs before the customs restrictions kick in?

AFAIK the limit is £390 before you pay duty/VAT and if one item is slightly over that limit then you pay duty/VAT for the entire item. Each CPU will cost you at least £200 - so that means you can bring one through per trip duty-free.

As for posting them - the customs allowance for VAT is £40 and for duty it is £135. Even if it is a gift then these rules still apply, have a look here. Therefore when recieving them you will have to pay full duty/VAT on the lot (combined with the initial postage cost from HK).

As for giving an innacurate value for the item - well you can try, but customs will scan it as a matter of course and if they find that the value is not correct then:

You are legally responsible for the information on the declaration; therefore it is in your own interest to ensure, wherever possible, that the sender abroad makes a complete and accurate declaration. If no declaration is made, or the information is inaccurate, the package may be delayed while we make further enquiries, or in some cases the package and its contents may be seized.

OMG Think before you all type lol

Was just about to say the same thing.

Thats if you want to do it by the book.

Or you can do it like a real person and mark the box as gift and just post it.
I have shipped more crap from countries than you have ever Googled.

"This time next year, we'll be millionaires"

First I would like to say thanks to the constructive posters, thanks for the heads up on what the pricing may be. I was kind of hoping they would be at least sub £200 and daydreaming that it may be around the £150 mark.

He is flying out today, so I have left it with him to text me a price of an oem 2600k that way I will know for sure if its a worthwhile purchase. If indeed the price is very good then I will probably buy one. I don't think its going to be hard to smuggle an oem cpu back they are not exactly very big without all the fan and packaging.

To a fool yes but to any normal person no.

@ Deluxe: why even post crap like that:confused: if you think I'm a fool that's your opinion but not one that was asked for.

tbh if you're that desperate to save some money why not see about getting one second hand? I'm sure they exist and will (hopefully) be less risky. Maybe there's one going in the member's market?

I'm not that desperate to save money! I already own a 2600k I was just thinking if the price is right I might get another. I don't see it as being risky tbh, its just if the price is right or not that makes it worthwhile.

Sometimes I despair at what I read on this forum, some really good helpful people and other that make me eyes bleed. Is there such a thing as "block" on here? ;)

Thallium you seem adamant in finding ways to circumvent the law. Do you also engage in tax evasion and benefit fraud perchance?

There have been some very valid facts made in this thread (such as tax, warranty, margins etc) which you seem keen to ignore; to the point of criticising people for pasting very relevant information.

To the OP: If your friend comes across anything that does seem "too good to be true", I'd encourage you to tell him to not get it. Its been a while since I've read anything about counterfeit CPUs in the news, but better safe than sorry right?

Killari> Put it in a lettler and post it to someone that gives a **** about what you think! You know nothing about me and just for the record i will have payed more tax this mth than you will earn in a year!

As for the post about getting a 2nd hand CPU, are you not the guy talking about warranties? (dont have time to read all the posts if not i take it back)

You buy a 2nd hand CPU! what do you get? one from me thats had 1.7 volts battered through it at a million C. O yes thats far less of a gamble.

Like i said before "How many Intel CPU have been RMAd". I dont mean OCed to death i mean out the box DOA? Think i will go out and say ????? well none that i have ever had,and never seen anyone say its DOA.

O and before some 43year old nerd thats still lives with his mum comes and says " O yes i had a DX2-66 that was DOA " You or they dont count!

If the guy wants to spend HIS HARD EARNED cash on magic beans thats up to him! NOT us. I ws just saying what i would do. Did i ask you ***** to get into the ins and outs of a ducks arse about things? Did i ask you to go and find the Tax/inport laws ??? NOPE.

Fill your boots mate if you get some at the right money i will have 5. I need a few to test on the new board

@Troezar you're looking for the ignore button. Click his name, view public profile, user lists, add to ignore list.

Electronics are more likely to be DOA than to die a few months in, it's one of the reasons for a thriving second hand market. Nevertheless they do occasionally die in use, I had a q9550 die alongside a motherboard while (temporarily) at stock settings.

You're trashing this thread with mindless abuse Thallium. Go elsewhere.
