2600k owner's club

I manually set PLL, auto seems to set it to around 1.8 on my board. I only recently found out that it could safely be reduced.

Still 2600k, been sat at 4.6 for a while now. Seems to need a big jump to get 4.8, so left it.

Tempted to have a tinker over Xmas to be honest as it will need upgrading soon - what's max voltage peeps using (I'm on water)?

I'm at 1.376 already for 4.6. Probably could tweak it down a bit more but you can see why I stopped here.

Tempted tot try and take it higher now as temps are fine, just wondering what people suggest top voltage should be day to day? I remember when I first got it (near launch) this was considered pretty high.

From what I've read 1.4v - 1.45v is the highest safe voltage for 24/7, I try to keep it some where inbetween which gets me 4.7ghz.

Replaced my [email protected] about 8 months ago for a whole new rig (see sig) the performance was actually pretty good in arma 3 which is a cpu dependant game. But I also think having titan black sli helped a bit too.
But I do think ill be keeping my 4790k for along time, especially as I haven't even overclocked it yet. And Ill get more performance from upgrading my cards in the future.

you guys using pretty high volts for those clocks i guess every chips is different. i used 1.36 then i tweaked it now 1.344 .

just upgraded from a 3570k @4.4ghz to a 2700k @ 4.8ghz the difference is night and day, more headroom for SLI, minimum FPS is up by a reasonable amount and perceptibly smoother. the 2700k could hit 5ghz with a decent cooler I'm sure of it (1.336v for 4.8ghz)

That should hit 5Ghz easy as 1.336v for 4.8Ghz is golden sample territory.

That being said you might find it requires a big step up in volts to reach the next multiplier. My 2550K is fine a 4.6Ghz 1.365v but will not do 4.7Ghz at 1.41v.

What cooler do you have?

I actually thought mine was a bit of a dog with 4.6 @ 1.3v but after reading some on here I don't feel as bad now.

Late to the party! Recently got one of these with an Asus p8z68-v gen3. Paid the grand total of £20, took it out of an old cad machine from work.

Needs some tweaking, but I think I got lucky with this chip!
