Dell S2716DG, LG 32GK850G

Probably wouldn't bother looking at anything else.

The Dell is the cheaper of the two ordinarily.

Edit: just realised you're not necessarily looking for a G-Sync monitor.

Which GPU do you have?

That Dell seems to fit my requirements, thanks. I'm using a GTX 970 ATM but looking to get a 2080 when released.

As an LG 32GK850G owner I can certainly attest to how good it is, and I came to it from an X34. I have seen the Dell, wasn't crazy on it if I'm honest... found the colour/gamma shift quite noticeable even sat directly in front of it, which I have not experienced with the LG. Bothers some people less than others though, depends what you're coming from. I had an IPS before, so it's going to be more noticeable. That is testament to the 850G though, as to just how good a VA panel it is. Blacks are excellent and I've had no issues with smearing or ghosting in games. Colour reproduction is also very good, which I know you don't really need if it's purely for gaming, but it's still nice to have. For sure it's the more expensve of the two, but I'd go with the LG any day.

If you guys are going to spend big money on high end gpus then do the same for the monitor. At this time it may be best not to buy TN monitors that have been out for a long time and opt for newer VA or IPS.

One should want that deep black and high contrast that TN monitors don't really produce so that textures and image quality really stand out.

Currently the LG 32GK850G is doing the business as mentioned above.

Don't get me wrong, that Dell is a good monitor but it may be time to leave TN panels behind.

Also I wouldn't base my choice on Gsync or Freesync but rather on image quality. Those techs are a bonus on top.

While the PG279Q is certainly not a bad choice, be aware you will suffer from some IPS glow and backlight bleed... and if you're unlucky it could be very bad, which is an issue if you game in a dimly lit room and watch/play darker content. It can be very annoying. This is a problem VA panels don't suffer from, and they will also achieve better blacks for the most part. The aforementioned LG 32GK850G is also £200 cheaper, and the Asus really isn't worth that much more IMO.

I have the Dell S2716DG and I'm really happy with it, just make sure you change the out of box settings. A quick google wand you will be good to go

Frustrated that I was about to buy one of these having seen it reduced to £450, but the morning I went to order it, the price was back up to £550. Will wait until it's reduced again unless there is an equal alternative for around £450.

have a look on google.... £449.99 at the moment and an extra £50 off if you take 9 months interest free. Just pay in full after the 9 months and you get a right bargain

I have the Dell and its been perfect for the last year or 2 ive had it. I use a 1080 to power it and have no issues in any games i play.

do LG do a smaller version of that monitor? it looks very good.... 32" is just way too big for me even 27" is too big. great for watching media or playing fifa or driving games, but for fast paced fps I would say 1440p 24" or 25" is about right. I like to sit very close to the monitor and have everything in my peripheral vision.
