27" 1440p or 34" Ultrawide 1080p?

I'm absolutely loving gaming on ultrawide. Looking at a standard wide-screen 16:9 looks so square now. Wouldn't go back.

Couldn't agree more. Downloaded and installed GTA:V late last night on my LG 34UC79G and it was so buttery smooth.

I have my LG sat next to my Dell 2407wfp 1200p monitor. The Dell looks washed out and inferior despite the LG having a lower resolution.

Hey Folks so it has arrived safe and sound all up and running and its massive cant believe how big it is so worth the money has no dead pixels and an image below of the back-light bleed on full brightness never had a IPS panel before so is this an acceptable amount?

Testing of backlight bleed I wouldn't do on full brightness.

I test screen adjusted to brightness I need in the evening with lighting on in room and then switch off lighting to see effect. TFTCentral in reviews now state:-

if you want to test your own screen for backlight bleed and uniformity problems at any point you need to ensure you have suitable testing conditions. Set the monitor to a sensible day to day brightness level, preferably as close to 120 cd/m2 as you can get it (our tests are once the screen is calibrated to this luminance). Don't just take a photo at the default brightness which is almost always far too high and not a realistic usage condition. You need to take the photo from about 1.5 - 2m back to avoid capturing viewing angle characteristics, especially on IPS-type panels where off-angle glow can come in to play easily. Photos should be taken in a darkened room at a shutter speed which captures what you see reliably and doesn't over-expose the image. A shutter speed of 1/8 second will probably be suitable for this.

Ive put my brightness Down to 80 And it looks a bit better its definitely noticeable though but guessing il get you'st to it will upload another picture tomorrow
80? That was way too bright for me.

Btw, don't use the icc profile from LG as it's way too dark. Without it I had the brightness on around 20 in the day 10 at night.

As for backlight bleed it's not too bad at high brightness. Take a padded soft non scratching cloth and wipe the bleeding areas. You may see it move and possibly be able to reduce it.

It worked for me.

Ok il try that i dont think its that bad tbh and whats the icc Profile from LG? @Davanius
If you have installed the driver from the disk or the LG website it will install the profile as well.

You can check by right clicking an empty space on the desktop. Choose display settings, display adapter properties and then color management. You will see what icc profile you are using if any.

The LG icc profile makes the gamma too dark so avoid it. It was the same on my previous LG 29 inch as well.

Would you mind Davanius sharing your settings please.

I haven't installed anything and have it basically set as it came barr a reduction in brightness.

Cheers

Ah I havent read the sheet but according to Tftcentral it states you need the d/port.

"DisplayPort is needed to support refresh rate up to 144Hz, including FreeSync support from compatible AMD graphics cards (50 - 144Hz range)."

Sorry I missed your post. I had brightness at 20 in the day and 10 at night. Gamma 1 and fast response time. I also used the profile from here....

Didn't touch anything else but remember not all panels are the same so you may have to tinker. :)
