27" G-Sync 1440p Monitor Recommendations

My pick would be Asus PG278QR or the Dell S2716DG. They are both tn panel but are premium.

The Asus PG279Q is an ips with richer color but you will have to pay more and play panel lottery.

Not a fan of Acer or AOC to be honest even though they all share panels.

My budget is £600, though would happily spend less.

I'm running a 1070 with Ryzen 5 1600x.

For information, I've tried the following but was very disappointed in the quality control so will be returning: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...descreen-led-monitor-black-red-mo-046-ao.html

Thanks :)

I tried that AOC and did not like the look of it, so I went with this https://www.overclockers.co.uk/dell...reen-led-monitor-midnight-grey-mo-084-de.html

I have the same exact PC spec as you and couldn't be happier.

my S2716DG is now very good bought a spyder5pro and properly calibrated it the colors are good and at144hz and g-sync games are good. played overwatch last night very very good no delays very quick response.mine is an a03 revision believe they are now up to revision a05 .

I had the Rog TN at launch (same minus the HDMI=R) the TN it was horrid but I bought in to all the hype it was a special/better quality TN (TN is TN TBH) and had issues appear after 1 week so returned.

Also all the AUO panels in Asus and Acer esp. the IPS panels and others brands using same panel have very poor QA so beware.

Why do you think the next high end Asus and Acer models are VA?

Original rog is not the same I think. The original has 144hz scaler while the new on has 165hz.

Also the new one has gamma and game visual presets while the old one does not. I don't think that icc profiles that came on the disks are the same so maybe different calibration. I could be wrong though.

Same panel maker and same still a TN for 8Q and same again but IPS for 9Q, all of which you can read nightmare QA posts on here in this forum and all over the web.

Even if you get a good one (play the panel lottery) it may end up with red lines down the screen someday and this needs a firmware update that cannot be done by end user so means RMA and TBH I am not sure you even get your "good" panel back or some other RMA.

Thanks for the replies so far. Looks like the Dell is a clear favourite.
A calibrated TN monitor will still look mediocre if you are used to IPS panels, especially if you ever view your monitor from any angle other than straight on.

My ViewSonic XG2703-GS, which can be had for £650, has no dead pixels and minimal BLB once calibrated properly. The panel lottery is a pain but just order from somewhere that doesn't quibble about returns.

Viewsonic XG2703-GS is amazing. I have 3. Zero problems (so far). There isn't BLB on these monitors, it's IPS glow. Big difference. My IPS glow is very minimal, just turn the brightness down to around 30. The colours are amazing. Can be bought from the jungle. I can say this, as I know Overclockers don't sell it.

I have a new £200ish 27" 1080p VA G-Sync thanks to a peep on these forums listing its in a thread here (reason I joined).

Its near perfect and a fill gap as I am not paying £600+ again to play the panel lottery and not for TN or even IPS, I am waiting on the new "super duper" screens but I have doubts as its still LCD tech and price is near £2k for those Asus/Acer 35" 200HZ HDR models.

I had to buy something as my eyes were sore back on a CRT (Small pixels) in between LCD's and I was not gaming much due to size.

I simply use Nvidia DSR to set to 1440p (1.78x) if games run slower due to now downgrading to 1080p over 1440p as of CPU bottleneck GPU relationship in some games.

I do not miss the horrid Windows scaling I had to use sometimes on 1440p though.

Am I right in thinking 32" 4K is better on eyes than 27" 1440p with no scaling in Windows?

That is my only concern with the Dell really, being underwhelmed by the image in comparison to the IPS panels.

It does seem to have better QA than Asus or Acers same screens using the same panels so less likely to have faults but still TN quality picture on screen.

Welcome to the IPS lottery. :p

Haha, thanks. I've already been playing it to be fair. So far I've returned an AOC AGON AG271QG and a BenQ GW2765H.

I have a standard 1080p monitor to use in the meantime so can be patient whilst I wait to win the lottery! :)

Well, I've just set it up.....

....and there is a MASSIVE black dead pixel along with a number of other more faded ones.

Back it goes!
