27” monitor 500£ max budget

Seems like you've made your mind up - but I've got that Asus Rog OLED I mentioned and it's *incredible*.
Hey mate. have you got this delivered and set up yet? Interested to hear your brief thoughts, particularly as you said you'd be using in a bright room

I have.

It's, frankly. incredible. Honestly? If you'd not read 'glossy' or 'wow you might get reflections' you simply wouldn't know. It's absolutely superb. Like I had hoped, it's no different than using a MacBook for reflections (which honestly I don't think in ~15 years of using them, I've ever noticed any!

Great thanks, sounds like a ringing endorsement so I'll add this to the compare list!

Now then QPX is down from 630£ to 599£, should I expect more discount in some time lol? Realy tempted to get it, however why not save more if I can..

Bit of a thread resurrection, but I was just wondering what you thought of text clarity on it? I've ordered one as everything else about the screen ticked my boxes and as you say nearly all reviewers have been waxing lyrical about it. Its seems all OLED at 1440p have the reviewers complaining about text clarity issues.

I would have gone 4k but in the longer term not sure about powering a 4K screen... Perhaps if they release a 27inch WOLED glossy 4k one I'll get that and run a dual monitor set up....

Read up QD-OLED and WO-OLED, one is better for text , matte/gloss makes a difference also

I’ve been super happy with it. I think it’s probably the best monitor I’ve ever had.

Text clarity hasn’t in any way made me thing “wow this is a shortcoming”

Sweet, I'm hoping it's one of those things that reviewers pick up because they're really looking for everything on a display and a normie isn't really going to notice. Looking forward to getting a hold of mine later today

Thanks!

Have you had time to set it up yet? I'd be curious about text clarity too like you saw in the reviews. Apparently it's less of an issue on 32inch 4K OLED just from the increase in DPI vs a 27inch 1440p OLED. 27inch 4K OLED panels are supposed to arrive next year.

I have set it up and I love it!

The text clarity in windows isn't as good as my older LCD there's a slight look I'd describe as chromatic abrasion with text. However, its not something that bothers me to the point I regret the purchase. Gaming on it and media consumption is top notch. Like you said the 4k panels don't show the issue as much. So if you think it will bother you then best to wait IMO. But the reason I'm made up with it is the picture quality and smoothness when playing games or watching video is out of this world. HDR especially looks amazing. The highlights really pop and it imo just adds a whole new dimension to the image and immersion for me. So far played a bit of Destiny 2, Space Marine 2 and Jedi Fallen Order with the HDR turned on and it looks amazing. In game the text looks fine too. It seems to be only an issue rendering text in windows.

Plus with it being on offer at the moment its effectively cheaper than the Dell SG2716DG that it replaced (that was 570 in 2017 this is 498)

Thanks for the mini review. I'll certainly be putting it at the top of my list for now. Just gonna wait out the coming week in case there's any movement with any other monitors. One of the minor features I like about the Asus ROG monitors is the option to control the UI with a mouse instead of having to reach under/behind the monitor for some tiny navigation joystick.

Tbh so far I haven't really used the windows apps for controlling the screen. The OSD and joystick combo works pretty well. To my sausage fingers it easier than the row of buttons I had on the Dell.... But then I just set the screen to HDR lowered the pixel refresh prompt from 8 h default to 4 h and turned on the anti flicker setting as there was flicker is darker scenes in Division 2. That remedied it and I didn't notice any stutter being introduced. Although I updated to the newest firmware before playing anything so not sure if the stutter that rtings spoke about in their review was down to a firmware issue that's been fixed.

Hi there,

I’m currently looking for a new monitor. All I know that I can have 27 inch max as that is what the space on the table allows. At the minute I’m using my Benq 2420 from 2013 lol which is 120hz and just feels outdated. Gpu ive got is 3070ti, however 4070ti is on the table. Now gaming is mixed, mostly fps, but i do play titles like GoW and similar e.g Alan Wake type. Looking at the market i see that there just so many monitors available. Spoke to sales team they recommended msi mpg 4k and benq ones for fps gaming. What would you guys go for if you had 500£? Oled feels overprised, i could go for it but my wife will kill me.
Can you wall mount? Also msi oled is amazing
