So one can buy any kit and run it at its rated speed with no issues then? Seen a few saying they had problems doing that.

But if the B-die is just for overclocking it past rated speed then i suppose its fine. Would be a bit odd if any RAM had trouble working at its rated speed.

No, not likely to buy 4000ghz ram and have it work on Ryzen.

Generally yes, just IC such as Hynix can cause issues and the quality is not as good.

B-die advantage is that it has a much wider spread of compatibility, in fact we've never had a single issue with any module using B die in any motherboard, the stuff simply works at rated speeds in any motherboard.

There is two types of B die regular, then the speed binned high screened stuff which is capable of higher frequencies and tighter timings, but as explained before ONLY TeamGroup and G.SKill have access to this IC, now of course as TeamGroup is an OEM and make memory for some of the other big brands, explains sometimes why you can find the screened B-die on other brands, simply because TeamGroup made it for them.

Seen it on both platforms and Hynix just never clocks as well but it cost less.
But in fairness memory issues are few and far between and motherboard manufacturers are generally fast at releasing an updated BIOS to work correctly with updated IC's.

Just a case of Samsung make the best IC, end of.
The best cost more, Samsung charge more for screened stuff, guess they know its the best so they can.

Like anything, just like car models, all the same model, but engine with different power outputs, the hardware cost the same, but they charge more for the faster ones. Its a little different with screened B-die as its higher quality IC of course, whereas with a car the hardware is all typically identical, just a different software map on the engine.
