290 or 970?

depends what resolution one plays at.
the 290 series was made to deal with 4k and for my set up a single 290 has shown it can deal with such better than nvidias offerings.
Problem as usual are at some resolutions you wont notice any differences playing anyhow.

Looking at prices here without them dropping a 290x are priced similiar what I payed for my 290 so that would be the card I bought today.
 
970 is the better card but 290 is equal or better value, and the better option for those who already own one and want to really bump up performance on the cheap. 290 Xfire is a very powerful proposition for those who have no qualms running multi-GPU's.
