2900xt owners\benchmarks thread

Its not just the plugs being full, its having enough separate wires/conductors from the PSU. Apart from the resistance problem, too few will make them run warm. Maybe not so you notice, but over time, say they cross a sharp edge it sinks into the insulation...

On my 2900 I use the dedicated 6 pin connection from the PSU and two seperate Molex connections from the PSU plugged into a 6 pin adaptor :)

You've not posted any benchmarks.

Yeah, this is the benchmark thread.:D

EDIT. Fortunately the Shuttle cables are quite short, so they will not have as much resistance. They are pretty well routed too, but I do see your point and certainly one to experiment with.

I aint posting any until the cards final drivers come out next week. Im not posting benchmarks of a card on pre alpha drivers for people to then compare to GTS/GTX cards with final drivers. :p

Yes possibly likely they can come this week aswell, I hope they do tbh gives me time to do some proper benches over the weekend

Not really much point mate, you may as well post some now, then we can see what difference the drivers made. :)

I believe the G80 cards drivers are not even in their final stage yet?

So just post what benchmarks you get for this driver version, and post another next week with the other version.

No there are a few "Final" set's as such.

Latest ones still have no WHQL, still have broken 1:1 pixel mapping, still give you errors when you change options in the control panel, still have artifacts and performance issues, and still leave the odd missing icon on my desktop and taskbar.

No, the 8800 Series support is absolutely dire right now and nobody can call them finished in the slightest.

I do hope they improve, this will make each side make better and better drivers and allow the consumer to have more polished complete sets along with better performance on both sides can only mean more and more benefit for the consumers :D, last thing we all really want is one side dominating now dont we?.

Aye that's what I keep saying. Thanks to a lack of competition (I think AMD's heads are still spining from being reamed so hard by Intel with the Core 2 Duo), Nvidia has not put out any good drivers and the BFG 8800GTS 640MB price is still exactly where it was when I bought mine back in early February.

This is what happens when one side dominates and I'm tired of it, I'd like some working drivers. :(

If any other 2900 owners have a copy of battlefield 2 could they fire it up please? I am seeing some weird behaviour on the textures of the ground in the middle distance, black cirlce type things keep flashing around.

Meh, so far I have gotten this on 8.36 drivers.

Spec see sig.

3DMARK06: 7855 (guess my CPU is bottlenecking as it's not OC'ed).

Company of heroes (1280X1024, 16X AF/6X AA, max settings):
-min 55.1 fps
-max 245 fps
-avg 103.5 fps

FEAR (1280X1024, 16AF/6X AA, max settings):
-min 30 fps
-max 178 fps
-avg 81 fps

CSS (same as above):
Avg: 151.93 fps

Call of Juarez demo (same as above):
-min 24
-max 88
-avg 60.2

and just a little screen of a shrubbery:

This sold the game for me, tomorrow i'm picking this up.

Oblivion (same as above, no mods):
-min 23
-max 116
-avg 63.522

I bet this card performs very well on bigger monitors but even on a 19" it completely destroyed everything I threw at it.
Just had a go with Arma and it handled everything at max. with a lowly steady 80fps :D

Now all I need is a fix for the fan and i'm all set :p
