hi all, since i can;t get 1T command rate to be stable on my motherboard i was thinking that if im gonna be running 2t command rate i may as well go for 4 gigs of ram. question is. how much difference does it make going from 2 to 4 gigs?

excellent guess i may as well place the order. for 100 quid i can get an extra 2 gigs of ram. hehehe 4 gigs will make me a very happy bunny.

hi all. still running the crappy 2gigs at the moment. installed xp x64 and getting all apps back on etc. very very tempted by the crucial offer of 1gb x2 sticks of pc 3200 for £100 inc vat and delivery. will sort pc out first then decide over the weekend how to proceed. need more power from gfx card though so gonna see what i can pull off.

hmm but ram is so cheapo now. only 100quid gets me 2 gigs of crucial pc3200 to match my existing setup. im not planning to build another system now till around 2008. and i fear ddr will go up in price then like sdram has now.

also im after a new gfx card but gonna wait a few more weeks till the new x1950 comes out and drops the prices on the existing stuff.

no i couldn't resist. crucial offered the ram to me for £85 all in delivered thansk to the discount voucher i had. so i will be 4gig mastering hopefully by this weekend. :D

hehehe 4gig i am so chuffed, look how big my ram capacity is oooerrrr :p

1000mhz stuff? does that even come is ddr1?

ohhh i looking forwards to me 4 giggery of ram. should see some more snappy response in windows.

bah, the upgrade was cheapo anyways so it doesn't even sting a little bit even if i get a 0% performance increase. atleast it allows me to do some waving

whoa 4 gigs of ram is very good. memtest passed fine and all my timings and overclock is unaffected. windows seems to be a bit snappier. glad i went for the 4 gigs afterall.

can do. but i guess they will be the same as my 2 gig setup since the timings were the same and the command rate was always 2t since this board is fussy about running 1t.

i doubt there is a benchmark that will show the advantage of 4gig over 2gig.

actually those database server tests that anandtech usually run will show a huge benefit to the extra memory.

yep will have to try one day. this windows install is not fully operational. since i put on x64 i need to get all my crap back on now.

true, also ram does not have a direct impact on frames per second. having more ram will not mean you magically get 10fps more in said games etc.

why confused for? these days gfx cards come with 1gig of ram onboard. and pc's need more ram all the time. 1gig is good for the minors out there but if you want to run winamp and word at the same time then your going to need 4 gigs of ram like me :p :D
