2TB Raid+0 - shall I risk it?

I think I'll have trouble maxxing out a 1TB drive let alone 2. But, in 3 or so years who knows what my drive capacity situation will be? Right now I'm using a 120GB drive that has 2% disk space left...

2TB will secure me for a long long long time.

I'm buying a Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB. Shall I buy another, and then set them up into RAID0 for extra speed?

We sometimes get powercuts here and I feel nervous about having a 2TB RAID0. 2TB is a lot of data to lose.

Hmm, worth the risk? If not I'll just get 1TB and in the future, if needed, an external drive or something.

Dont bother if your files are important RAID 0 isn't your best friend!

If you think you can make good use of 2TB of space in a faster access mode then go for it.

If most of that 2TB is just going to be storage space for the next 3 years worth of work and other stuff then forget it. If it naffs up you're screwed.

Get a couple of the new 12 series of Seagate Barracudas in a smaller size and run them in RAID 0 and use the 1TB for storage, perhaps.

After running raid in the past and losing all my data (OS only luckily) I wouldn't bother.

Backup and you should be fine..
The failure rate in raid0 is always exajerated

the biggest I'd run in raid0 would be 2x 320's and I'd keep a 640 drive with a weekly image backup on it.

Get 4 and run RAID10.
