considering the price of the m4 today what would you recomend i do? i have an older vertex 3 im going to stick in my laptop when i get the 2 drives to use in raid :)

The M4 seems to be the SSD of choice for most people at the minute so I would say the
M4, you get what you pay for at the end of the day.

raid wont really give you big benefits with ssd's, also trim may be an issue depending on your sata controllers raid drivers.

insted of 2 x 128gb drives look at getting a single 256gb drive, would be better in the long term too.

well im running an asrock z68 fatal1ty board at the moment so its sata 3 6gb. i thought running raid would give me near on twice the speed i would get with just 1 drive?

it would but would you notice any real world difference in speed/loading/opening programs,no not really

plus you have the risk of losing your data if it crashes with raid0 ect

If you really want to raid ssds I would suggest drives with background garbage collection like the corsair performance pro. It runs from the drive itself so iis perfect for raid or operating systems like xp that dont support trim. It's also quicker than the m4, mine scores 875 in as ssd.

drives that are capable of restoring their parameters without TRIM are great for those applications where TRIM simply doesn’t work at all. Namely, they are strongly recommended for RAID arrays or operating systems that don’t support TRIM command, such as Windows XP, FreeBSD with ZFS or Mac OS X

Look at the 30mins idle bar here, shows the effect of the background garbage collection compared to a post trim drive.
