3-4 Beers a Night.. Damaging?

iam currently in freshers week
day4 of what would be classed as binge drinking spree, feeling it so badly, and being on the fresher's team Iam not allowed to take a night in, obvious Iam allowed not to drink, but wheres the fun in that?

A good reason why I am now more in check is because I exercise (and drinking alcohol while I am trying to make gains it kinda stupid). I used to be quite excessive with my drinking but I think this was when I was depressed (yeah I know alcohol can make you more depressed). I used to drink 4-6 cans/bottles every other night and then go completely nuts at the weekend - drinking everything in sight. Now because I exercise and I am less depressed (well again) I just go for the odd beer per week. :)

I had no idea some people drink every day. I'd class you as alcoholics. I know I'm probably the weird one here :p

The simple truth is anything more than a pint or two every night will be affecting your health considerably.

agree with that u should keep less then 6 pints a week tbh for healthy life

3 or 4 cans is a lot in my book but then I drink a few times a year simply because I don't really enjoy the taste of pretty much every type of alcohol especially beer. I like Drambuie, Baileys, Apple Juice & Vodka and a few types of cocktails but that's it.

When I go out on the weekend I just don't drink and normally drive in as its much easier. I get some banter from my mates but I am not bothered because they all fritter £90+ a night. Though I don't like it when a friend of a friend criticises my decision not to drink and speaks in a very condescending manner to me, I have had to leave a few times before when this happens before I did something that I would later regret.

But my mates from the Gym, Muay Thai & Krav Maga are all pretty much like me and don't really drink at all so when I go out with them its much nicer as there is no pressure to drink and we just have a good time plus we never get any trouble from people :)

I think it depends on the type of social circles you mix in. I personally don't drink because I deem it a waste of money, don't like the taste and it means I consume what I deem as useless and ecessive calories which could be used on something far more useful.

I know some people my age (21) who are out 4 or 5 times a week and they just look unhealthy in my opinion and are nearly always skint despite earning good money.

I don't really know why people feel they need drink to relax. I mean, I drink when I want to relax with friends or on any occation. Lets face it, its fun and cheap, why not?

But I don't make a habit of it. I will quite happily relax the majority of the time without. I never drink alone. I don't even tend to have 'the odd beer' whilst watching TV. I just don't see the point. Horses for courses.

Yeah I think it's just personal preference. People all have different reasons for drinking. I like to have the odd beer because I like the taste, but I must admit when I was depressed a while back I was drinking anything just relax and supposedly make myself feel better - which it actually didn't. Can be a vicious circle like all things.

Because some people actually really enjoy drinking? I love tasting new beers the fact it can help relax me is an added bonus imo
