3 displays?

ok, thanks for that everyone

semi pointless question now:

- what limits the amount of gfx cards and/or displays then, and what is the max.

I have a PCI-Express 6800 XT currently has 2 TFTs plugged in..
I want to support 3 TFTs.

Question:

- Shall I get another cheap PCI-Express graphics card?
- or is it safer to get an ordinary PCI graphics card?

I will only use the third TFT for movies/videos.

Thanks.

Looks like its safer to get an ordinary PCI graphics card.

On my motherboard, if I plug two PCI-Express graphics card in, the primary one will using PCI-Express x16 and the other will use PCI-Express x1. I believe there are very little graphics cards out there that supports PCI-Express x1.

^ is an example of a PCI-Express x1 - notice the very small connector

Yup it is possible.

I have a 1950XT driving 2 24" LCDS via DVI, and a 15" LCD driven by a 3DFX Voodoo 3.

A Voodoo3 you may ask? Well I tried to get the X1950XT and a Ati1950 PCI working together, but no luck. The Voodoo3 give the ATI card 0 Hassle!

I could have gone for an Nviadia FX5000 I have lying about, but I really did'nt want the huge driver installed. The 3DFX works fine with the XP driver from M$.

How many spare pci slots have you got? Multiply that by 2 and that's your answer - unless you buy lots of TripleHead 2 Go's in which case multiply it by 6! :D

Can you run movies smoothly on every monitor? I've added another graphics card, tried to run a movie, but it jitters quite a lot.
