3 monitor set up?

Thanks for the input Konzul, ill only be playing with max res of 1920x1080 not in DirectX 11 so it should still be good, im not after state of the art gaming, at this moment in time. I always tend to be a year behind the whats in now crowd, mainly due to funds!

Thanks again
Jay

True if you go "lower" in res it will be less taxing and less of an issue. However if you run 1920x1080 on three screens it will still make 5760x1080 (3x 1920 next to each other) as eyefinity epands as one virtual display across all three.

I think the new ATI cards coming out alow upto 6 monitors!

Jay

Yeah there is an eyefinity edition of the 5xxx (have not seen it retail) that sports 6 mini display port adapters...

So how much will that effect it? I play games on 1920x1080 now and enjoy it, will it make much diffrence? This is a mine field!!!

Cheers

Well you can go down in res and run something lower than native res (which might make the picture less clear). But if you really want to game on the tripple screen I would go with at least the 5850.

I think we will be waiting a long time for this considering the amount of DP enabled monitors on the market.

That's the real issue.. Mainly the high class Dell screen's support it or a 80£ active DP adapter...

lolTom'shardware.

My comment was in relation to "Even the 5850 will have issues at 2560 and above especially when you enable post processing."

Which is a very very vague claim.

A 5850 and 5870 both handle triple 1920 pretty well excluding the most obvious titles.

Sorry I see your point. Considering the 5850 this was not really clear the way I wrote it. However for triple 1920 I would personally still recommend a 5870 or crossfire 5850 if you want 4xAA and DX11. But personally I have not had the chance to test a triple screen system hands on with a single 5850.

Honestly, if you’ve never used a multi monitor setup in Windows, it really likes a magic. I don't know about it. But I think you should go on daggle(dot)com.

im altering my advice i say go for a 5850 http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-121-PC&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=411 or similar. you want to do it properly and i rather you was fully content with your new tech. i personally think it worth every penny for 3 screens, whether gaming, working or surfing its going to be a truly enjoyable experience :)

question to anyone if you Xfired 2x 5770 does that mean you can have 6 displays? lol just curious :)

Im running any eyefinity setup with two 5770's. It still only gives you the option of using 3 monitors, because everything still has to be plugged into the top card. Im sure ati will eventually allow this though, and probably fairly quickly consdering how fast crossfire support came out

So whn you use Eyefinity, are you just using the one card? does the second have to be disabled? Oh and what games and res do you play on the 3 monitors?
Thanks

Jay

At 5040x1050 I'm able to play most games at max settings and 2x/4x AA, like said earlier thats a very vague claim, ofc you can't expect to get 100fps etc and there is some bugs within games.
And you will be editing a lot of files to get a fair few of these games to work at such res :)

I went triplehead2go. Managed to find a new one with no drivers for £80 delivered. Then 3 Philips 22" Monitors for £112 each. AM very pleased with them and play games at 5040x1050.

Went from a 27" Dell 2709 to this setup.

What graphics card do you run that set up on?

Jay

Hi a GTX260. I still get 100fps on CS source at that res. You need 3 monitors the same size and with lower recommended resolution. Otherwise text will look bad on desktop.

I didn't go eyefinity as it doesnt have the bezel management and also you need to have one monitor with a display port.

Also managed to pick up 3 monitor brackets that clamp on to the desk for £10 each :)

Update,

I did get the Ati sapphire 5850, and two more Iiyama 24" Prolites. Today got a new desk its 150cm wide so is more than big enough. Just waiting for the 'active' display adapter to come into stock then ill be sweet :)

All i know is any 5*** card will run 3 monitors with an active display port adapter, and all 3 monitors need to be the same res.

I think if I was gonna get eye finity I would probably buy 2 super cheap screen for either side and one a decent one for the centre. I'm thinking you aren't really going to notice any slight loss in image quality on the 2 side screen. Does anyone think this would be a bad idea?
