3 nights in Europe, where to go?

Bruges is cool for a cheap getaway. Valencia for £63 is pretty awesome though, amazing place

Lots of suggestions, thanks!

Didn't see your specific dates, so sorry if this is totally unhelpful, but you can squeeze in two for one if you like.

Sat 1st October
EDI - 18:15
TRN - 21:40 (Turin)
Ryanair FR5928 - £13

Train from Turin to Venice is €30 or €40 first class.

Tue 4th October
VCE - 19:30 (Venice)
STN - 20:40
Ryanair FR795
£12 or £60 to Scotland.

You could also do Rome/Venice.

Any recommendations?
I ended up befriending a couple of locals so they took me out and about and partied with their friends. However, there’s a very cool brewpub called Labietis. Nearby is a courtyard full of bars, galleries, outdoor cinema, etc. It’s at Tallinas iela 10-K3, Riga, Latvia-1001. There was a music festival when I was there, all free.

The KGB prison is worth visiting.

Krakow?

Nice nightlife and there are trips to Auschwitz and the salt mines too if the fancy takes you

Lots to see in Turin.

Lingotto - the old Fiat factory with the test track on the roof. Also a shopping mall and food court.

Mole Antonelliana - Europe’s tallest stone building

Alla Baita dei 7 Nani - Weird 7 Dwarves decoration, but the best pizza in town. Try the farinata. Disney tried to shut them down, but Turin told them to do one.

The Metro was pretty new when I was there last, but I’m sure it works smoothly now.

If you take the fast train to Milan, watch out for the pickpockets and don’t pick up any girls near the central station as they‘re packing more salami than the nearest macellerie (butchers).

Ibiza probably a bit awks/"lone drinking in a London pub" vibe (ala ShiWarrior).

Palma is a bit more of a family wasteland a la Fuerteventura (chav haven - saw a family using rented mobility scooters as a way to get around).

Dusseldorf is nice - the Germans are super friendly and the pub mile is brilliant. Worked there quite a bit and a good friend of mine lives there.

Estonia was nice - tbh I could have done with a day on my own to explore that place.

Düsseldorf - get yourself full of pork, sauerkraut and alt bier at Brewerie Schumacher or finish a nifty on the alt bier with a currywurst mit senf outside the Hauptbanhoff.

Go windowshopping on the Königsalle - only top earners with a cupboard full of Gucci belts can afford to buy anything there.

We went to Valencia last year. Didn't rate it at all
We stopped again this year as we needed a stop off enroute up north and loved it. Get a hotel in the centre. It's a place we will always stop off at during our Spanish road trips now.
However. Como is also nice for a weekend can fly and get the train into como.

Düsseldorf is nice, but if I was going for a short trip to Germany I'd go to Berlin instead.

How about Copenhagen? It can be pricey but there's some really good museums and galleries, some fine old architecture, good food, nice places to wonder around and it's comparatively small with absolutely first rate public transport. For craft beer you need to look up some places to go but there are some really good craft beer bars around. Plus basically everyone speaks fluent or at least competent English. People will tell you they don't speak English and then hold a perfectly serviceable conversation with you. Literally the only person I met who didn't speak English in the month and a bit I was working over there was Chinese. Direct flights from Edinburgh too.

(Failed to notice the not-capitals bit, my bad)

Looking to go away for three nights at the end of the month. Will be a solo trip and I enjoy modern art, architecture, food (all types from junk food, street food up to Michelin starred dining), cake, cocktails, craft beer and wine. And just generally wondering around.

I can get pretty (or very!) cheap flights to Carcassone (£30), Valencia (£63) or Brussels (£19). Seville (£67) is also possible but it’d be an extra night and trying to make this cheap.

These seem like the best options, but also considering: Nimes, Beziers, Nantes, Bari, Düsseldorf, Palma, Ibiza.

Any other suggestions? Limited to flights from Glasgow/Edinburgh. Been to pretty much all the capitals in Europe so not looking to go back to any of them.

Has anyone been to any of the above and can sing their praises, or tell me they are rubbish?

My alternative idea is to take my tent and go camping in Scotland but figure it’ll probably rain, I’ll get eaten by midgies, it’ll cost a fortune in fuel, the food will be crap and I’ll spend more money on whisky than I’d spend on hotels abroad.
Get a flight to Brussels then a train down to Brugge. https://www.visitbruges.be/en you can get a train or drive from the UK. We normally drive.

Pamplona was one of my favourite places on my Camino ,ironic as I am a vegan, architecture and women were stunning

Hi I can only write about Carcassone on your list. I had a great trip in summer 2020 for 3 nights, what I would say is really it is a nice quiet town with a medieval city attraction on the hill. You get the typical French town with the restaurants with either the local specialities like Cassoulet and the usual bakeries etc. We stayed on the hill near the medieval La Cité and spent most of the time around there with 2 trips to the new town, one to have a canal trip! The other day we had a tour out into the Minervois going to some crystal caves, wine tasting etc. The airport is tiny and everything was very chilled. There is a bus from the airport to all around town and the bus driver was helpful in directing everyone to their hotels. I enjoyed it but I am not sure it meets your criteria for modern art, architecture (unless medieval) or craft beer but the food was enjoyable as was the wandering about and the general pleasantness of the town and the medieval city with its castle, tournament show and tours! The medival city is a tourist place thought, when I went it was apparently only 1/4 as busy as usual and it still felt packed inside.

I haven’t done a lot of places with modern art or more likely I don’t pick up on it much!
