Hi there, I made a topic not so long ago about what to get but I've been thinking about every thing I want and now I know so doing new topic.

Here is the main things I want

*Fast speed (My old PC used to take like 3-4mins to load up fully)
*8gb memory (For future prove)
*Cheep to run (Things that don't use much electric if that's possible)
*Graphics Card (That will play games like (WoW, CS:S, BF2 on full)
*Silint fans

I don't need:
Operating System, Mouse, speakers etc just the main base (OR what ever it's called )

Now, I ain't sure what I want to spend so may I have 3 specs

£400
£600
£1,000

Thank you!

It does matter if you are reusing windows xp for the new rig. It will be pointless buying 8GB as the OS won't even use it.....even 4GB is too much!

If you are mainly going to be gaming then 4GB will suffice anyway. Better to spend out the difference towards the GPU

I'll be using Vista.
I will be using things like photoshop but I'll just be using it for games more.

Will it still be pointless?

Thanks.

Windows 7 is the way forward. Get Windows 7 Home Prem 64

Only reason it's "pointless" was because I think 32bit Windows XP only reads up to 3-4gb so having more would be..well...pointless.

I would use 8GB of the Corsair XMS3 RAM £60ish and opt for windows 7 64 bit bundled with a Sata HDD, I think you save about £10 on the deal.

So spend less on the RAM basically for money to by an OS that can use it. The problem with the RAM you suggested is that those aggressive looking heatsinks can cause problems when fitting the heatsink. Unless you are going with the "entry" sealed watercooling units that is, which would have no issues ;)

N.B Those F3 drives you suggested are good, quick drives. The 1TB isnt much more though unless prices have shifted again. See what you think of the bundle, good luck with the build.

with SLI potential, big overclock.

A lot of mixing and matching. It's best to have a single budget, then we can get the best out of it.

Thanks for them specs all look good.
Why do you guys think I don't need 8gb memory?

Bit of a stupid thing to ask, but what part in the PC will get it to load up fast, and load other things up fast like software?

Also, why do I need a Crucial RealSSD M4 64GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive aswell as a Microsoft Windows 7 Bundle - Home Premium 64 Bit :S

SSD is for installing the Window and applications that you commonly use. It will make them become like lightning fast responsive. But because SSD drive has limited capacity, you'd need a separate HDD for storage use (videos, MP3 etc)

4 gigs is plenty for gaming and everyday use. You can make use of 8GB if you use memory hungry software, otherwise there is little point. Depends what your needs are really. I would spec 8GB for myself anyway, so no grudge from me.

SSD for the OS will make it boot much faster than using a mechanical drive. There are other things you can do in the bios to make it load faster, as with a SSD, about 1/2 the boot time is taken by the system startup and various component checks (SMART, memroy check, ...). Loading the OS will be done in seconds.

You usually put your OS and programs on SSD, and your data (music, video, ...) and most of your games on the hard drive. You can put some on the SSD for fast loading, but space on a SSD is at a premium, so you need to prioritise what you want to load fast. I would try to leave 5-10GB free on the SSD at any one time, and not max it out. Note that a OS drive will steadily fill up with rubbish, and it's good to keep an eye on the User folders as well (temp files, 'My Documents", "Downloads", that sort of things).

What do you guys think?
I know you guys say I don't need 8gb but then I'm future proved and things like photoshop etc use abit.

Why do you want to change that? Don't use vista, you will end up throwing the PC out the window...and also you will not see the potential from the hardware you bought.

I would change the ram to http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-105-GL&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1517

as it has a low profile heatsinks and won't interfere with the cooler :)

OK, if you want a 1K build then that's a start :)

Then we can spec the best bang for bucks. If you want 8GB, then that's fine by me.

With a grand, can spec a good GTX570 build, 8GB, and maybe a SSD thrown in although OS will eat in the budget. I do recommend you get an OS (OcUK or somewhere else, as long as it's reputable).

Wait for us to give you the best equipment for the money, what I threw in was just an example.

Windows 7 is much better than vista. You said you have vista but is it a 64bit version? If it's 32bit you can't use more than 4GB of RAM and you might as well upgrade it to windows 7 64bit.

If you want 8GB then get it. Personally I don't think it's needed for your uses and lets be honest it's not the hardest upgrade to do if you want to add more later ;)

Get the XMS3 RAM. If you want 8GB then buy the 8GB XMS3 kit it's practically the same price as the GSkill 8GB kit. I wasn't joking, you might think the heatspreaders look cool on the GSkill RAM but they can cause problems when fitting the heatsink as I've already said.

Thanks, been having a think and maybe spending 1k is to high as I've still got games to buy. So maybe £650 max?

Sorry for being a pain /:

Well I don't have the vista yet but that's what I was going to get.
But, now I like windows 7 so think I would get that.

Don't need that in a spec though as I already know where I'm getting it.
