I really can't believe that people have such an issue with these spaces. All the big superstore carparks have 200+ spaces perhaps 10-15 of these are for parents with kids.

Why have an issue parking 30ft further away so others with a car full or a mother and baby with a pram and stuff can have it a little easier. Ok yes you get the odd dad+teenager aprking there because it's a parent space but hey just because they are lazy or ignorant dosn't mean everyone has to be.

Geez, try and think of others for a change rather than ME and MY car attitude.

edit..
How did people manage in the past when no child spaces existed

How did we get along when there was no cars, why should we need carparks at all....silly comment

Im no expert but if you can get yourself out of the car Im sure you can get a baby out of the car in a normal space, if not then park more appropriately to give yourself more space on the baby exit side. Cant do that? never mind maybe you shouldnt bring your baby shopping.

Another thing; if the extra distance from a normal car space to the supermarket is a problem then I would say that maybe you shouldnt be bringing them shopping. Parent and Child spaces are a joke, they probably exist just so people with no spacial awareness can park there 4x4 tank without annhilating a row of cars.

Yeah obviously no expert as you have no children you moron!

If you want a flash motor and dont want people whacking there doors into your "precious" then park it out of the way where there are less cars e.g. less risk of a "slamming attack". Dont be so cretinous, parent and child spaces are there so people with baby seats and kids can get them in and out easier and with less risk to them as there not so close to the edge of the spaces and so the parents dont open the door fully into your "precious".

Jebesus Christ, some truly lazy thoughtless donkey ****** **** eaters that cant even be bothered to walk that bit further to the shops and then complain as someone else gets to park closer.

I think they should put the Parent & Child spaces on the opposite side of the car park, see how often they get used then. If its only to help parents getting children out of the car, then why should they worry about the distance.

(and I know the ignorant parent reply to this... "but a child walking through a car park, boo hoo", it's a car park, not the M1)

I don't know about you but I have seen plenty of idiots in local supermarkets and if I had children i'd want them straight into the shop as soon as possible.

Most of the idiots I see at Supermarkets are the ones with children, leave them at home if possible along with the prams, pushchairs and wheelchairs etc

I don't have kids but I know that is one of the stupidest things I've ever read, so if you had a baby and had to go shopping you'd just leave the baby alone by itself so you could park in a normal parking space. Parents with babies would need all the room possible to be able to open the car door to easily get the baby out and I'd imagine that would be quite a bit harder when you have to park in a normal space because someone who cares more about their car has decided to park in a parent bay.

edit/ just to point out this is only aimed towards babies, people with kids who can walk shouldn't have a problem parking in a normal space.

I sympathise with the OP though because he didn't know it was a parent space and doesn't deserve to be fined.

No wonder kids are fat, they don't even have to walk to get their crisps and sweets with mummy :p

These parking bays are stupid. Having kids is not a disability! When I was a kid we had to walk all the way from the bus stop and help mum carry the shopping bags!

These bays are just another way for shops to make money. Primarily by pulling in the parent customers but also fining people 30 quid every so often.

If you have kids and shopping is just too strenuous, do it online!

The main point of these spaces is to provide more room to open the doors. i dont really see why they should be closer to the supermarket though.

Because it's easier for parents. If you were a parent you wouldn't want to go to a supermarket that has the parents spaces right at the back!

It's all relative though isn't it. Surely any other car park they go too they have to walk anyway. Plus the fact they are about to spend a long time walking around a supermarket makes it odd to worry about a slightly longer walk to the front door.

I find these quite helpfull - purely because of the extra space. Saves me knocking someones door trying to get my little un in and out the car.

They are also preventative because kids old enough to open the car doors themselves WILL fling the car door open and dent your car. So the more the P&C spaces keep thoughtless kids away from denting your pride and joy - the better surely?

It's not a question of laziness afaic, it's a question of preventing bumps/dents all round.

Don't pay it, simple as. I've had 2 from Euro car parks for parking in handicapped spaces and I haven't paid any of them. If they want the money from you they have to take you to court and you can demand that the person who issued the ticket be present in court as a witness. Trust me it's a nightmare for them, they operate on the hope that you'll cave in and pay them. It's not like a parking ticket issued by the council, pay those buggers fast cos they will hunt you down like an animal :)

As for the guys who says that the parental parking is No swearing!, I agree to an extent when it's kids who are able to walk but I have an 8 month old child and apart from it being a right pain in the ass to get a baby carrier in and out of the car when you have somebody parked right up beside you it's also a nightmare trying to push a trolley full of shopping half way across a bumpy car park with one hand and a baby in the other.

Stop whinging and pay it, i hate people who park in the incorrect spaces you're just a bunch of lazy so and so's, the same goes for people who speed and park on double yellows. You're a bunch of arrogant --- who think rules dont apply to you, whilst everyone else who is inferior has to comply.

Wait till you have to struggle with two young children when you go shopping, get a life and start being reasonable to other people selfish --- -----

What happen if everyone did what they liked, you should have been clamped and fined 150

I have no real input to this thread but just want to lol @ this person. Lol.
