30 year mouse & keyboard player transitioning to a controller

I remember the first time I used a console controller to play an fps - Timesplitters 1 on the PS2. I was absolutely awful at first. I couldn't get to grips with using both thumb sticks to control where I was walking and looking at the same time :D took me about a week to get used to it.

going from pc to peasant console? man that takes some doing ,

And here we have the average unwashed member of the Master Race clan, identified by its inability to formulate proper sentences or its abuse of punctuation. These can often be found on various forums, attempting to belittle those who choose to play their games in a way they want but which differs from the unwashed. They will occasionally venture out of the Master Race clan as they although they consider themselves prominent members, the lack of the latest and greatest graphics display device means they get shunned by those higher up the food chain within the Clan, which results in insecurities which can only be dismissed by attempting to belittle those who choose to live their lives differently.

The best advice is to simply ignore it, it will soon head back to Benchmarkland to join the rest of the Clan, who will then question the unwashed for smering the reputation of the more senior clan members.

They are harmless and their jibes, although meant seriously, hold as much weight as a homeless drunk saying "hey, nice cans" to a hot, rich lady with which he stands no chance in a million years.

I started playing consoles more in the last few years. I have found now that not only am I pretty crap with a controller, I am now also crap with my mouse. Still I am a lot comfyer so meh. :)

I still find a controller hard. Even when you're trying to shoot 30 orcs in the head as they run frantically towards you at the same time riding beasts and trying to dodge flying axes and spears.

Let alone panicking at the 2 - 3 second last change key smashing moments and accidentally hit one of the wrong 4 keys.

Or even trying to keep some cars straight from snaking. That is so much easier and smoother with a wheel.

This is me, I just come to terms with the fact I suck and just enjoy it anyway!!!

Ah thats me as well, I think its my old age starting to slow me down : - ) I enjoy games still, but I am no way near as competitive or as good as I was back in the early 90's when I was a k/b warrior in fps. Doom, then Quake running on a old 486 DOS system.

sure I had a PS1 and then a PS2 but they were mostly used for games like wipeout, GT, Burnout 3 etc...

But, yes going from k/b and mouse to controller can be very tricky, but practices makes perfect they always say.

Took me about 3 years :p

Now I have a PC again I still play with a controller occasionally, but it feels very clunky and imprecise (like trying to do keyhole surgery while wearing oven gloves :D) and I much prefer playing with M&KB* it's just that sometimes I'm too lazy and feel like just vegging on the sofa ;)

* There area a few games which I prefer on the controller, e.g. TW3

like the op, im 31 and although im not hanging up the keyboard and mouse i have just bought an xbox one (so i can play with some irl friends)

ive been an exclusive pc gamer for 2 years and recently been really enjoying black ops 3 so got that on the one aswell, its a whole new ball game.
