Possibly the most 'macho' movie i have ever seen. Lots of half-naked six-packed men and brutal merciless (very) graphic killing.

At first it's a bit 'erm, wtf..?'. My first impression was "Ok, what the hell is this OTT tripe?", but when the film gets into full-swing it's actually pretty good... if chiseled men cutting bits off other men does it for you.

Anyhow.. It might be the first film to tempt me into buying a HD-DVD player.

It was totally not what I expected from the trailers. A good watch imo.

Quoted for truth (why did the abbreviation get *** treatment?), I loved it. The inclusion of the monster type persians was a stroke of genius as it really helped make the story seem as if it was coming from Spartan eyes, not just some impartial observer! I mean, imagine if you were a spartan, how would you describe Ephialtes' betrayal, youd turn him into a monster... and they did.

one thing i didn't like, was how suddenly the odds turned against them; for the majority of the movie they are romping through the enemies slaughtering everyone they come across as though they are practically immortal, then in the blink of an eye they're suddenly all surrounded and killed. :/

Saw it today with my mates. Was a quality film, I loved every minute of it. Some of the camera angles during the battle scenes are brilliant and some good all round carnage. The slightest bit moving, as there fighting for something they truley belive in/are willing to die for.

*SPOILER*
Some of the bits i liked was when the leader of some of the other troops asked the king why he brought so few soldiers. He then proceeds to asks the occupations of his men 'blacksmith' 'potter' etc etc. And then the 300 reply their butch chant

and the king asks him the same question 'why did you bring so few soldiers?' and effectivley waves his ass in his face, lol

That bit was quality, or at the end where he just stood there with his arms out while the arrows reined down. Amazing.

Just back from the cinema - what a freaking cool film!!

a line in the film that shows just how hard the spartans were: we are outnumbered a paltry 3 to 1

I would go and see the next showing i liked it that much

Saw this tonight and in my opinion it was nion perfect.

***Spoiler****

One of my favourite "macho" bits, was when they defeated the first wave - before they fought the immortals and they were all just bowling down the hill with the heavy rock music on in the background.

I also liked the wit of him - taken out the first wave then they are making sure they are all dead, random stabbings and the King suddenly gets an apple from know where and then says "why can't we just be civil" *stab* <insert cry of pain>

Another macho bit - the first wave comes up and there are hundreds and hundreds of men piling into them and they just won't budge, and you here "PUUUUSSHH!!" and all of them get knocked backwards - Shows the true brute strength they were trained for.

it's especially good considering it's a movie based on a 'graphic novel'. usually they are pants.
