306 XSI

Quality thread!

Thanks for the heads up Enfield, i'm going to sell my 306 as a result. Infact no, i'll give it away to someone I don't like :p

Seriously i've had mine for some time now and its never felt anything other than completely planted. Then again i'm not some legend behind the wheel so I only drive it within my capabilities....... or maybe its because mines got all the wheels pointing in the right direction ;)

cheers malachy, where did you get that information from? also i have been in a friends 1.8 glx and we hit 60 in less then 9 seconds!! but as someone said they probably do the testes with people and luggage in or something

yes tests are done with a 'half load'. stats were from 'carnet', and you can get better more realistic 306 times by comparing to a citreon zx times, 8.4 secs for the 2.0 8v since there are essentialy identical cars mechanically.

i see, its strange because that website says the 2.0 16v and the 1.8 16v are both slower to 60 then there 8v equivilants? and the same goes for the 1/4 mile

Yer last time I quoted the fact that Pug state their proformance figures under-load some people didn't believe me.... Yer because a GTi6 really does take 8.5sec to get to 60mph :p

Not all cars have a funny angled wheel, I think you're not reading this properly.

You said 306's were death traps and you will never get another one? Now your talking about an individual serious problem with ONE 306? Im confused :p Btw, its always been said on many pug forums that the best tyres go on the back ;)

306 feels a lot safer than my escort ever did, but i suppose its the all round discs that are helping when i brake late (escort = spangly sports brakes on the front and rustey drums on the back = crashy)

Simply having drums on the rear does not mean you will crash a car! If your drums had rusted internaly and were grabbing when applied, then it could well induce a spin under heavy braking, but that would be down to poor maintenance, not the fact that you have drums fitted. Disks on the rear of small front engined cars don't do much other than look nice, as the rear wheels only perform a small fraction of the overall braking effort.

Deathtrap! Wouldn't like to get the backend out in one of those!

Its been quite amusing to read that, then the rest of the thread showing how stupid a comment it actually is.

I would say in a 4 wheel ABS system its pretty mandatory that they are all discs. Basically tho what i was saying it that the brake imbalance (yes due to my lacklustre maintainance) was the primary cause of my accident

My brakes dont work yet I still drive my car.

It didn't affect the way it drove when driving normally, and I would never drive a car with no brakes, MOT, Tax or insurance. So   to you too idiot.

But you'd drive one with mismatching tyres and a wheel so dangerous it caused you to have a nearly fatal accident?

Bahahaha, every response makes you look more retarded than the last. It didn't affect the way it drove, right. Yet having an accident which caused the car to be written off was actually a design fault of the Peugeot 306. :p :p :p :p :p

Well, how I feel today I wish I did ******* die. Everyone is really getting to me.

Enfield - you had a buggered 306, you cannot blame the 306 just because you had a damaged one! Its almost as ridiculous as me for example saying that all MR2 Turbo's are crap and dont even move because mine couldnt after i modded it with some mid corner boost and 2 lamp posts.
