3080 Wait Negatively Affecting Gaming

Nah, if anything my amazement at how my pc still handles fs2020, ACC and RE 3 at 1440p/60 is making me very happy while I am forced to wait for zen 3 and the 3070

The prices for 3080 are astronomical and the 2080 price drop hasn't materialised?

Do you think the resurgence of the pandemic means prices will increase? Especially on the run up to Christmas?

Sadly the rest of the world are selling 2080ti half price for $600. They arent a bad buy at that price. I havent seen barely £50 off in the UK.

Not for me I’ve upgraded from a 1080 to a 2080 super and entered Evga’s step up.

I could see people not playing as much if they had sold their old card and are sitting with either no gpu or a old one.

Am delaying a few games till the 3090 arrives, as the monitor upgrade (from 16:10 1050p to 32:9 1440p) doesn't play well with a lot of games on my SLI 970s for some reason.

Theres enough low demand games that work fine one it for now. (The new star wars squadrons is surprisingly good looking and smooth)

Only negatively affects your gaming if you sold your previous card before the new cards dropped and are now stuck in a long queue for an Ampere card.

Otherwise, I don't know why it would.

I've currently got a 1080 and waiting patiently in the queue for a Gigabyte Eagle. Funny thing is I was actually going to hold off getting a 3080 until next year but then I got Microsoft's new Flight Simulator 2020 and its just crying out
for a new high end graphics card. The fact that we've got a long dark Covid winter ahead of us made me bite the bullet and get in the queue for a card.

I'm still gaming with my current 1080 rig but I know I won't be looking back when I get my 3080

Sold my 1080ti and game on a 1660 Super at 1080. I'll get a card in 2020, its a great little card. The 1080ti on the other hand is not much of anything, its had its day. The 3080 refresh and AMD look interesting though.

Don't worry. The person you sold your card to has taken your place in playing games.

On a more serious note. If they are campaign games, then you might as well wait to play it on max settings.

I won't be looking back when I get my 3080
And so you shouldn't, it was a night and day difference over the 1070ti I had which is similar to your card and I even sold the 1070ti for £230 so all in all it cost me £420 which is pretty amazing for the performance.

Trouble is I need a faster card to run VR games on the Index. my 1080ti isn't fast enough to run the more demanding games at decent resolution and refresh rates - at least not enough to do the Index justice.

Maybe there's something to be said for playing on something really weak until the 3080 arrives.

You know, so you can really appreciate the difference!

Hey,

I have seen myself playing less and less games while waiting for my 3080, and barely touching my PC , as it somehow just feels inadequate despite being a decent Rig.

I have found myself only really going on it to look at benchmarks and upgrades , and check these forums. Has this wait for the 3080 put anybody else into a slump around their current setup? I am interested to know .
Yeah agree, Got a GTX 1070 sweating at full OC on new 10850K system, waiting for 3080 to drop, its a bore. If only having the newest and the best was less important. What a concept.
