Yeah my current PSU just isn't up to do the job unfortunately it trips when trying to play battlefield 5. All being well it'll be here on Tues and I'll report back
What you on about man, have you tried undervolting it to see if you can play the games without it tripping?
Yeah I've a 650w psu which for what ever reason trips when I'm using the 3080
So install Afterburner and drop the voltage - then it hopefully wont trip it, are you overclocking the CPU or something to push it that high?
Just got the 3090 FE - I knew it would be big based on YouTube videos, but when it's in your hand - jeez it's absolutely enormous!
Really impressed with it, as expected (with all the 300x cards) it's the power limit that's the limiting factor for these cards. I have undervolted mine and it's running better, even getting a little extra performance seemingly because it's not banging off the power limiter.

I think power is definitely the limiting factor with the 30xx cards
Elloo, Aye you seen the Ken in my owners picture on the role call??@Tiny_D hows your card kenning on ken?
I've been using Quake II RTX as a way of just hammering the card - at 4K with Dynamic resolution disabled, even with the power limit set to the maximum 114% you can see in MSI Afterburner the card being power limited the entire time and the card downclocks accordingly.
I've spent a while this evening tinkering to get the lowest voltage / frequency settings so that it sits solid at the target clock speed and stays *just* below the power limit (114%), for me that's been1830Mhz@837mV. Getting the same, if not 1-2fps higher in Quake II RTX.
Honestly I'm really glad I stumbled upon undervolting, overclocking is fine but it just seems to result in the card hitting the power limit quicker and downclocking below what the undervolted clock sits at. I think power is definitely the limiting factor with the 30xx cards

What version of afterburner are you using? Is it stable?
There is probably a reason for that but yeah - my 3070 FE is constantly running into the power limit. Though strangely the behaviour with it is a bit inconsistent - I think due to it changing the voltages a bit behind the scenes of its own accord as well.

It's so big it makes the old Voodoo5 6000 look small! The Founders 3090 really is an amazing piece of kit though, it's boosting well above the rating, and so cool and quiet.
Loved my Voodoo card! 3090 is a class build. May have to revisit the case window and tidy it up when I get my PSU cable from Seasonic!
Other news... mate at work had a Smartphone 'delivered' by DPD. They cant find it and not sure what happened to it. He's raging. Reinforces my opinion (again), useless muppets.![]()
