The amount of these on eBay after yesterday’s says is disgusting.
True - but there are loads on there now for stupid prices and I don't think they are being snapped up!It sucks but why wouldn't you if you're basically getting a free £500? Until they sort out the stock situation and cards are actually available at close to msrp then we'll have to put up with this.
Glad to hear a few more forum members managed to get FE cards at RRP.
Interesting choice of surprise retail partner by Nvidia.
It'll be fine. It'd have been £300 down the pan imo.True - but there are loads on there now for stupid prices and I don't think they are being snapped up!
I managed to bag an FE yesterday - wouldn't have been my first choice of card (Asus Strix) but the fact that I got it £300 cheaper than that card and that I am not an avid overclocker makes me think this card will do me fine.

Don't take this the wrong way, but ethics has nothing to do with it. We are talking about a luxury item in high demand with limited supply. It's basic economics to see that the cost to purchase will rise and is quite literally the basis for all capitalism in history. Just because it's a product you want doesn't make it unethical, its business, albeit morally questionable.Ethics.
Although I'm grateful that having a clear conscience is of more value to me than £500.
Better them than the big forest place. At least the retail partner they chose is (as far as I know) only shipping to UK/Ireland. That may have even been what clinched it, as Best Buy (the US FE partner) won't ship outside of the US or to parcel forwarders.Tbh given the options available I don't think this came as a surprise at all
I would tend to agree. No one is forcing anyone to buy these cards. The situation sucks but at the same time you're going to have to have a pretty strong will to pass up ~£500 profit if you don't need the card (no one needs it).Don't take this the wrong way, but ethics has nothing to do with it. Now if we were talking about, say for example, insulin shots for diabetics whose price has been artificially raised to turn a higher profit; that would constitute as unethical. You could literally be killing someone by making their treatment unaffordable. No one is going to die from a lack of a graphics card in their PC.![]()

Didn't want it hahahahaha!!
Definitely wasn't offered it
Something 'morally questionable' is by definition unethical. Obviously not to the same degree as your other example.Don't take this the wrong way, but ethics has nothing to do with it. Do the people profiteering from this situation need £500? I'd bet the same amount that the answer is overwhelmingly 'no'.I would tend to agree. No one is forcing anyone to buy these cards. I thought scalping was illegal in the uk. Maybe I'm wrong? It sucks but why wouldn't you if you're basically getting a free £500? Until they sort out the stock situation and cards are actually available at close to msrp then we'll have to put up with this.
There are specific laws regarding reselling football tickets. It's also apparently an offence to use a bot to bulk-buy event tickets, but not to resell them.I thought scalping was illegal in the uk. Maybe I'm wrong?
Not that I particularly want to get into semantics, but I've always worked on the basis that morality is a personal affliction, whereas ethics are more community and business related. What you believe are your morals, which may or may not align with the business or community behaviour, who will be following a code of ethics.Something 'morally questionable' is by definition unethical. Obviously not to the same degree as your other example.

Ethics is subjective. It's the reason that *I* wouldn't take advantage of a situation like this. Some people are clearly putting considerable effort into getting hold of FE cards (or getting very lucky). I'd only be doing that if I really wanted one.
