31.5" 2560x1440 165 Hz VA G-Sync - LG 32GK850G

I recently bought this screen and quite happy with it. Comming from DELL 2414H (24" 60Hz) this screen is BIG!! So far it is a joy to look at and it is noticably faster.

Would somebody be so kind to inform me how these ICC profiles work and how they should be "installed"? I am quite the NOOB in this area.

I thank you in advance.

Greetings from The Netherlands :)

Received mine the other day...most impressive. I'm coming from a Dell TN panel and the difference in contrast/blacks was immediately noticeable.

Quick question though; how is the LED dial supposed to work? It seems quite finicky and I'm not sure if it's maybe slightly defective. At certain positions it just won't click, but advance it half a turn and it's too sensitive and clicks without me meaning to. I'm wondering if this warrants an RMA?

[edit] I think the dial axis is off-center; as I rotate it feels loose but gets tighter as it gets closer to the half way point (it’s at this position that it won’t click, which I suspect is because it’s already clicked in). Keep rotating and it loosens off again.
I wouldn’t normally be this pernickety, but it’s a £700+ screen...

[edit2] Yup, the button seems to stick at a certain point. If I slowly rotate the dial there’s a single ‘notch’ where the button clicks in, changes the LED colour, then turns the LEDs off (press and hold).
I’ve also just spotted a single stuck pixel. I know OCuk follows ISO standards regarding dead/stuck pixels, but is the temperamental dial enough of an issue to get a replacement?

@Matt Rigg just for the dial alone I think you should RMA it.

I still love the display, however I haven't game a lot (I started new job last week, and I'm too tired at my "family free" time at night) LOL. However the monitor is holding up well in internet browsing/office work, which is its weakest point.
Funny thing is, because of the thin frame (3" on old one) and probably due to the higher rez (1080p vs 1440p) it looks smaller than my LG 32LD450. :-)

I've used the settings recommended by dw28 and I really like them to my naked unprofessional eye. I'm using gamma 3 (for deeper blacks)

@amd7674 I'll drop them a message and see what they say. The problem is that it's very sporadic; I spent a good 5 minutes this morning rotating the dial around trying to replicate the issue and it wouldn't stick. Came back to it a few hours later and it stuck straight away.

Just took the jump to this screen to get on the high hz GSync wave (better late than never).

I came from the 38UC99 (38" 3840x1600 IPS Freesync - 75hz with Freesync/60hz without) that had amazing picture quality, but after 1.5 years and still no sign of an AMD graphics card that can drive the screen, I wanted to go for GSYNC (I have a 1080Ti).

I was very worried about color quality going from IPS to VA. I had seen several VA's in shops and sworn I would never go away from IPS. The 32GK850G is really impressing me with the colors. From my personal perspective I don't notice a difference and the "washed out" colors I normally see on VA screens is not my experience on this screen. Great work LG! And the "darkness" (contrast) compared to IPS is really nice - I now get what people mean.

Also 144hz + Gsync is a joy to use. Not as "immersive" as my huge 38" ultrawide, but I was also tired of the "fish eye" effect on ultrawide - graphics that stretches on the sides. So it was nice to go back to 16:9.

A rather large gripe I have with the 32GK850G is the stand and the connections on the back. The stand goes really deep and I have a 60cm desk that goes to the wall, so I want my screen as far to the wall as possible. The stand is VERY deep - and has an annoying extra part of the foot protruding even deeper. I kind of knew this, so my plan is to wall-mount the screen, which is where the connections come in... WHY on earth do you still do connections that face straight out from the back and not facing down? This is like going 10 years back in the TV market where people complained about wall-mounting TV's and connections going into the wall. On top of it, the supplied DP cable is really thick, which is nice I guess (quality), but I will have to add a layer of 5 cm to my wallmount in order to have the cable there. NO TV or Monitor in 2018 should have ANY connections pointing straight out into the back. DOWNWARDS (or side) connections is how it is done! Let LG monitor team talk to the TV team please. :-)

If anyone know of an angled DP cable please let me know - haven't been able to find any.

Having read the review on TFTCentral I can't find their RGB values to key into the monitor. Anyone have these?

Have to agree, and no sign of anything for at least 2 years either! Loving the LG myself, but I do love and miss UW sometimes. Good thing is I can run an UW resolution on this screen and still have it the size of a 30" UW so I'm quite happy with that

I've ended up in a bad spot with the interlacing vertical lines, LG refuses to acknowledge the issue and just threatens with sizable inspection costs if I send it to them.

It's more and more noticeable now that I've been playing games with brighter graphics, at this point I don't want to keep it anymore, paying ~1000€ for interlaced motion picture isn't acceptable.

My recommended settings previously posted... As other users pointed out the settings of contrast of 38 were too low, I guess high RGB values compensated for low contrast. I'm using now 20 brightness and 70 contrast with gamma 3 settings. I've used Lim's Cave RGB settings for tad less blue. I'm awaiting for color calibrator to arrive this week to properly adjust the colors.

Well, props to OCUK regarding their RMA procedure. DPD collected the monitor yesterday (same driver that delivered it a week prior! "No good then?" he remarked). Received by OCUK this morning. Replacement authorised by 16:00. 25 minutes later I've got a shipment confirmation with tracking number. :D

I was unsure on whether they'd replace it tbh. I even went to the trouble of making a video showing the problem (took a couple of attempts to make the button stick) as I was sure they'd not be able to replicate the issue and insist on sending the same unit back to me. I was imagining having to kick up a fuss and "exercise my right cancel", what with it being <14 days. But nope, they've come through.

Fingers crossed, the replacement is perfect, toes crossed for no stuck pixels. :p

After searching the web, I found a single angled DP adapter here:

http://www.delock.com/produkte/1022_Displayport/65382/merkmale.html

A local webshop had it in stock so I purchased it, and even though it is rated as DP1.1 it actually works! So now I've been able to wall-hang my monitor. But still it would have been a ton better if the monitor had downward-facing connections.

Replacement arrived today. The LED dial feels totally different; nice and loose, doesn't stick at certain points.

Spent a good 10 minutes going over the screen with black/white & R/G/B backgrounds looking for dead/stuck pixels. Can't see any, so woop!

Has anyone had any luck with VESA mounts? I'd like to stick this thing on a desk-mounted arm but I'm not entirely sure the bracket would fit, what with the recessed mount.

Yes mine is wallmounted now using a tiny vesa100 wallmount to get it close to the wall. Also using the DP angle adapter.

Any vesa100 mount should work fine. But it is indented on the back, so you would need distance fittings to get a larger vesa mount to fit.

Do you think it is faulty or do they all do this? Not seen it mentioned in any reviews?
