right wonder if anyone can help?

would a unpartitioned 320 gb hdd ( 8mg cache) be faster in real world useage, then a partitoned 1tb F3 drive?

say if it was partitoned 400gb/ 300/260 odd?

running on an i7 pc, 4 gig ram, using win7 64bit and mostly CS4?

any benchmarks or info much be VERY helpful and settle an argument! :D

would the difference be noticeable in everyday useage?

It would depend on the exact make of the 320GB hdd, but it is likely that the 1tb disk would have a higher data density, which means that in benchmarks the 1tb disk would score (slightly) higher

It would depend what you were doing. If you only used the 400gb partition of the 1tb disk it would perform slightly better (particularly in benchmarks) than the 320gb disk.

However, if you had the OS and paging file on the 400gb partition and were streaming a video from the 260 partition, the amount of head movement back and forth would probably result in a poorer performance than if you had the OS, page file and video on the 320gb HDD.

Assuming a decent 320GB disk - no.
