3300x vs 3600x vs 3700x in price, performance, longevity, gaming.

If I had no machine/couldn't wait, it'd be a 3600 (non-X/XT) for me right now, and then an upgrade when Gen 4 hits later this year if its as good as its cracked up to be.

The 3600 over the 3700X with the difference spent on a Gpu would net more fps especially if your looking at Gpus £500 and under.

New APU, or recycle an amd 570, 8gb?
Yeah, if you already have a Gpu then you can just use that for the time being and skip an APU.

This close to zen 3 I would be tempted to wait and pick up a 4000 series but I guess it depends on what your using right now.

So if you wanted to outline a PC rebuild plan, I'm interested. (Graphics may be salvaged, but I have a 7850 laying around, so I have *something* there, to wait till big navi with)

If this for temporary CPU or long term? What's your budget?

I'm open to either short or long term cpu - not got a fixed position. Budget is weird but high. I have up to 2k I could spend, but I don't want to. Money stored in shares, it's a bad time to pull them out.

But for something truly special it would be an option?

Ok.

Motherboard: these will support Zen 3, £155 is in that range of quality but not to the point where the expense is to high for what you're getting. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-b550-aorus-elite-amd-am4-b550-atx-motherboard-mb-58v-gi.html

Temporary CPU: Ryzen 3600, £189. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-...hz-socket-am4-processor-retail-cp-3b9-am.html You might actually decide to keep this long term. i have one paired with a 5700XT, its pretty good, i'm happy with it.

Actual Temporary CPU: 3200G Not available on OCUK but there is one on another very large international retailer for £85, rules prevents me from adding the link, its a 4 core 4 thread older Zen, its not Zen 2, you don't want to keep this CPU, pass it on used when you get your long term CPU.

Long term CPU: Ryzen 3700X, £330 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-...hz-socket-am4-processor-retail-cp-3b7-am.html

RAM: 2X 8GB Team Group 8Pack 3600Mhz CL16, good RAM for £110 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/team...3600mhz-dual-channel-kit-black-my-08q-tg.html

This is a really bad time to buy PSU's, most of the good ones are out of stock but i found this 700 Watt one for £90 https://www.overclockers.co.uk/silv...old-fully-modular-power-supply-ca-44x-sv.html

CPU cooler: this is more than enough, £40, Matt black 120mm fan. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/be-quiet-pure-rock-2-black-cpu-cooler-120mm-hs-01k-bq.html

If you go long term CPU it comes to £725. That could be the 3600, that's £584.

You would need storage, case and GPU, there are some good cases for under £100, i'll have a look....

Going with a separate cooler, not the wraith thingy whatsnames?

The Box cooler is good, for a box cooler, its still a box cooler.... the Prism cooler on the 3700X is more usable than the stealth cooler on the 3600 as its much more substantial, its pretty too with its RGB, if you do get the 3700X try it, if you don't like it you can always get another cooler, the stealth cooler on the 3600, you could use it, it does the job but even a £20 cooler is much better.

Are you looking for a case or are you going to reuse your old one?
