35" Curved 3440 * 1440 200Hz Curved QDot FLAD 1000 nits

The Asus is just what I've been waiting for, 100% my next monitor (unless something goes horrible wrong come the reviews). NOw just to wait for a single card that can really make use of all of it.

Just saw this and had to log on my god WANT WANT WANT this is what we wanted HDR and 21:9! I need one as well i think my eyes are fading for example right now they feel a bit blurry because the 1080p PPI is frying my eyeballs squiting alongside stutter from non G-sync gaming. Last night i did 5 hours of RS Vietnam and after it i could barely see right and man they felt fatigued from the constant 120>115>100>120 flucuations. But i also feel a part of this eye strain is the contrained feeling of 16:9 it feels like looking into a box unlike the natural view of Ultrawide 21:9. These three things are my trifecta that are stopping me enjoying gaming in most games.

I note also this has 200hz to perfectly sync with my 2000hz USB polling Gladius which is the next evolution in mouse smoothness either having the mouse tied to the refresh rate like G-Sync does or higher poling mice to brute force the mouse microstutter. But if you can match them up so 1000hz into 100hz is 10x perfectly compared to 120hz or 144hz always falling out of sync a little you can probably stop the annoying microstutters shown on blurbusters for mice. So i guess what i am saying is this is the best monitor now we can hope for the only things this baby seems to lack is the PPI of 4K and OLED. Will it have the 512 local dimming zones too with Chroma 4:2:2?

According to PPI calculator, 35" 3440*1440 is 106 PPI whereas 27" 2560*1440 is 108 PPI so that's ok with me.

It's not 4k, but that means it will be easier to get up to the 200Hz refresh rate.

I'm still not totally sold on OLED, scared about image retention :(

If say anywhere from 1500 - 2000 which if true is ridiculous for a monitor. You can get a 55" oled or fald tv for that price. Not sure I can't wait till end of the year so might just get a X34A

It has already been confirmed that the 27" 4k 144HZ IPS HDR 384 FALD 16.9 screen will be $2000 so there is not a chance that an even bigger display with a higher refresh rate + more dimming zones as well as having quantum dot on top will be any cheaper than $2000.... Not to mention that 21.9 also comes with a premium....

No idea how some people across the internet are thinking that it will come in at <$1500....

EDIT:

Also, it is very likely that the monitor won't actually come until next year.

I hate huds anyways :)

But 106 yea i am currently at 91ppi 24" 1920x1080 i do not know how i would think about going to 109 in a game with no AA granted 35 inch is big so would it work for me to sit back or go for the 4K 144hz version at 162 ppi i think it is! Most games now have no AA i find i am utterly spoiled by 4K DSR giving a complete fullscreen supersampling effect you see that the higher even fake resolutiuons and ppi go the better things like chainmail in For Honor are defined. It actually shocked me i can see a big difference on a 1080p panel downsampling from 8K to native 1080p its pretty damm huge and thats fake!If they are equal at 2000usd it will be £1599 in the UK on pre-order i am willing to bet £10 on it being very very close. I might have to buy the Ultrawide first and DSR it or just go with what i know works for me and that is high PPI and high refresh rates.

I also like you worry a little about 200hz but this is not Freesync it has no limits i presume to ask people here who know and have one like Vega Nexus etc that 60hz 75hz and 90hz games and others with various weird low limits function great and stutter free it is just they feel exactly like a 75hz panel would? This is the dream for me really!

I don't know about other 21.9 users but I find that to really appreciate the extra FOV/wideness, you want to be sitting a bit further back than what you would with a somewhat equivalent 16.9 display and as a result this gives the perception of an even sharper looking display so 27" 4k is better for sharpness if you like to sit pretty close to the display. But again, this is entirely subjective, some people like to sit really close to big displays.

Regarding price, some youtuber asked about the pricing for the 27" model and the rest of the world and the asus rep said 2000 everywhere:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6MCgM78Sg7s&feature=youtu.be&t=4m26s

If true and I am interpreting the asus's rep answer correctly, that is probably good for us given how UK generally gets screwed over for VAT, gouging etc. etc.

Worth taking with a pinch of salt as always though...

I think the main things to worry with these monitors will be:

- halo'ing around bright objects on dark backgrounds
- the trailing/delay for the zones to match what is actually happening on the display
- if a VA panel, trailing/smearing/ghosting
- if IPS, probably still backlight bleed issues but hopefully not as severe....

Regarding the last question, not exactly sure what you mean, you mean that if a game is only getting between 60-90fps and the monitor is set to 200HZ? Gsync will be operating between 30-200 fps so there shouldn't be any issue/stutter. Or do you mean there are games out there that don't go above those refresh rates? If so then no there shouldn't be any issues there either.

Of course if you want the full experience of high refresh rate gaming/200HZ then you want to be getting as close to that as possible.

EDIT:

Also, whilst it is 200HZ, hopefully the pixel response time will be able to keep up as other 200HZ screens (granted these are overclocked ones though...) don't really get much benefit due to the pixels not being able to keep up and as a result, it is better to settle with a lower refresh rate i.e. about 120HZ in the case of the following:

I was looking at a computer change soon but may have to save my pennies for one of these instead. G-Sync has been a revelation for me since I started using it so an OLED TV is not really an option. Wouldn't want to go back after using it.

Just bought the Agon 35" recently, but if this reviews well my daughter is getting an upgrade from daddy soon lol.

Best
