35mm F1.4L or 50mm F1.2L?

Yeah I'd go with the 35 in your position. Then gradually you might find yourself wanting a better 50 in which case neither the Canon or Sigma 50 1.4 are anywhere near the cost of the 50L and in many ways both of them are better lenses; both focus faster, both are sharper. They don't have the build or aperture of the L but in terms of bang for your buck there's no point getting the 50 1.2 unless you're shooting a 1DS or 5D3 camera imo as the AF on the older 5Ds means that the 50 1.2 is just too slow to be an everyday lens- the 85L is just as slow if not slower but its focal length is much more suited to deliberate, careful use which makes it less of a problem.

Personally I find I either want to be wide or long, so either 35 or 85. 50mm to me is neither hear no there, as it's too close to the other two focal lengths. Tbh I think the 50 is good for when you take just one lens, or if your a zoom shooter just looking for a lens to give you some nice bokeh on fairly close shot's.

Due to the above, my 50 is practically redundant, as if I take out one lens, I take the 35.
It's currently just a backup lens until I get a 24-70.
