Dose anyone know of a website that compares the acctuall specs or 360 and PS3 please?

Want to do some reading up on them both.

Thanks

Yeah same here but I was at the pub with mates and the dreaded debate came up.
Whats better 360 and PS2

And I wanted to find a specs page with both specs together so we could compare them.

Thanks

The 360 has 3 cores, the PS3 has 7 or 8.

Unfortunately its not that simple but you could try that down the pub and see if they swallow it :D

In effect I think we all know the games are going to be similar not because of the machine spec being equal but just because the games are so massive nowadays you dont really design for one console alone and its not specific machine code they'll be using but easily transferrable code.

If I had to guess, I'd say the PS3 will have the superior spec out of the box but it will not be that much use for the above reason. Roughly speaking they are equal.
If I get PS3 it'll be just to play GT5 :o and maybe a distant reason could be bluray if that is sucessfull beyond all imagination which is unlikely.

The real deciding factors may be things like noise and heat - general usability and reliability. Will 8 cores mean more heat ?

Don't even bother trying to work out specs, there is unfathomable potential in both consoles hardware. Only time will tell.

Not MGS4 as well?

Not especially, I like racing games mostly. Is mgs4 exclusive to sony, otherwise why pay more to play it on ps3 rather then the xbox360

Another factor we cant predict is how easy they'll be to code for and the Japanese market is going to sway things towards Sony more then we could anticipate

Both consoles will have a very obvious power cap, especially when the PS3 is released because of the PC tech available at that point.

IMO specs mean very little in terms of graphic jumps (Graphics seems to be the bench mark for console comparisons)

We are IIRC at the point of diminished returns where graphics are concerned. It takes a lot more effort for the hardware (and developers) to get a noticeable increase in graphics capabilities.

So whilst there will be a difference, it will not be the sort of leaps we saw in the previous generation or the size of the leap between the last generation and this generation.

If I was to make an analogy:

The PS3 is like a sledgehammer trying to crack a walnut
The 360 is like a regular hammer trying to crack a walnut
The Wii is like a walnut cracker trying to crack a walnut.

The end result is the same, its just how much effort you put in to getting it.

Why not talk about consoles down the pub. All my mates enojy chatting about it, and some of the girls aswell.

Thanks to those who helped.

lol I knew you'd know I would say that.

I wish it was an acceptible thing to talk about with my mates, but they aren't really that interested.
