How long is the warranty on the 360?

1 year. I extended mine to 3 years because I doubt any of us will have our original 360 in 12 months time. Yep you can try arguing in 2 years time about the warranty but personally I didnt want the hassle.

I will be sending mine back once I have finished Oblivion (As mine freezes all the time randomly).

I was informed by Microsoft to return it to the shop I had bought it from if it was within 30 days from day of purchase. If not they would deal with it.
Overall I am quite impressed with Microsofts service.

EDIT..... When I get my replacement will the 1 year warranty start again or will it be from the date of my original purchase?

Id like to know this aswell, also can you take out the extended warranty at anytime within the 1 year? Or is it too late now?

Anytime you like you can fill the form in or phone them up. I only did mine a few weeks back. I phoned MS to confirm I could still claim the '10 day offer price' they said no probs.

Mine has today started to go pear shaped as well.

After being on for about 4-5 mins (dashboard or in game), it feezes and the whole screen has a slight pink chequered flag pattern on it. Also if I put my hand to the back of the unit it feels very warm considering its only been on a few mins. Never had any ventilation/heat issues since purchase.

Once I reset it it does the same thing or I get 3 red quadrants on the front circle of light. I reckon it means it is knackered ( I am gonna wait till tomorrow).

Bought it in a branch of GAME, called them up and they said just need to bring it in and if they can reproduce the fault they will just swap the main unit over (not cables, HDD etc).

Just gotta find the receipt now!!! Bought it in 2nd Week of december I think.

Thankfully a visit to the store will sort this out as I didn't fancy being 360-less with SF2 coming out on Tuesday!!!

If you ring up MS about a faulty XB how are they going to know how long you've had the 360?

Well I guess at the moment no-one could have had the conosle longer than 12 months as it has only been out 8 months(ish). I dunno how they are going to run the replacement service after late November/early December when the first consoles sold start to fall out of the 1 yr warranty period.

Because you have to have registered it dont you? Probably in a few months time they will want a reciept?

This is getting stupid now, playing demo or game on disc it just seems to freeze up whenever it feels like it. The psu seems cool, so im sure that its not overheating.

Any ideas lads?

I'm having this exact same problem, for the past month or so I've only used my Xbox 360 for about 1 hour per day and usually at night time, it's not overheated and I haven't knocked the system at all.

All of a sudden it just freezes randomly and sometimes when I turn it on 3 red lights in the ring of light (RoL) flash.

That signifies an internal hardware error.

I've never had any problem with my xbox until now. And yes, my system is perfectly ventilated and it is not on a carpet or anything stupid like that.

I've contacted MS support about it but I imagine I'll have to get it replaced.

I took mine back to GAME today and they swapped it with a new one (apart from the HDD, obviously).
I would advise you return any that are even ocassionally doing the 3 red lights thing, before your warranty expires.

Im still waiting for my delivery sticker/instructions to arrive. Its been 4 days now...

bit of a tip for this - request that they email your UPS stickers and print them off yourself.

I rang at 9am, got the email about an hour later then the UPS fella turned up at 3pm. Remember its upto 10 days to get a replacement once the repair centre recieve your broken sexbox. I Learn't this the hardway when my last one was replaced, took a week to get the stickers and coffin and another 10 days once they had recieved the faulty one.

If you do not recieve the stickers monday ring M$ again dude :)

Its been 13 days now, so i think they must have forgotten about me :(
I'll ring them again but this time request that the sticker thing is emailed to me. They didn't actually give me this option first time, do i just have to tell them?

Btw i cant believe how quickly this summer holiday is going...
