What way does the live thingy work on the 360 ? How much is it and what do i get ?
Thanks
There are two versions of Live; Silver, and Gold.
Silver is 100% free, you get it out of the box and as long as you have broadband you can use it.
Silver features include
Access to Live Arcade - This is allows you to download small playable arcade games, usually retro games similar to asteroids and the like. Apparently we are getting Steet Fighter II soon. You can either download a playable demo for free or pay a small fee and get the full version. A lot of these games are supprisingly addictive.
Playable demos- A lot (if not most) 360 games have playble demos on Live which you can download and play for free. There is no more the need to buy games magazines to get a preview of a game. Its free online.
Movie trailer downloads - Free and in 480p or 720p
Music videos - Not many but there are some that are free and in 480p or 720p
Themes & Pictures - you can download themes and pictures to update your live avitar or 360 desktop.
Gold Subscription:
Allows the above but also
Allows you to play your games on live against friends and strangers.
The beauty of Live is that when you regester you assign yourself an Identity (which you can change at a later date) which is universal accross all of your games, unlike the PC and PS2 where you have to create a new Identity for each game.
You also have a friends list, which allows you to send messages to friends, and see who is online and what they are doing, invite firends (or recent players) to your games, and join friends games. You can also chat to them independently from what you are doing. e.g. I could be playing GRAW, and you could be playing Kameo, if I sent you a chat invite, you could accept it and chat to me, dispite playing a different game, this works in media center, the dashboard, DVDs, the lot.
The system is simple and intuitive, and think of it this way, if you pay the maximum cost of £40 p/a it works out at £0.11 a day.
